Introduction

The document following this introduction describes what I had discovered years ago in regard to treating depression naturally.

This knowledge was actually generated about three years before the 2003 date reflected on the document below.

I had my first “miraculous correction” of depression by the use of natural therapies in August of 1999. In August 1999 I resolved a two month long severe depressive state in a single day. I did this by the use of a high dose bentonite and psyllium purge, followed a handful of hours later by high dose probiotics and raw vegetable juicing.

Throughout the fall of 1999, I intentionally induced and then corrected at least a dozen states of serious depression using the knowledge I had stumbled into in August. These trials as “a guinea pig for the world” were performed for the purpose of learning, or for the purpose of validation (as best as I could) of what I had already learned.

In February of 2000 I added broad based free form amino acids to what I was already doing to correct depression naturally.

And by April 2000 I had worked out the details of what I was doing to correct depression in myself to the point where I felt obligated to write Dr. Abram Hoffer (the longstanding leader of orthomolular medicine, now retired) and tell him that “I had hit a home run for the whole world”. By this I meant that I knew that I had stumbled into the most advanced understanding on earth of how to correct a state of depression naturally (in most so afflicted).

Unfortunately, Dr. Hoffer could not accept what I had to say in the above regards, such that appropriate action was taken. What I was representing to him, although I knew it to be true, was just too far fetched for him to believe.

Since April 2000, I have intentionally either induced or aggravated perhaps close to a hundred episodes of depression in myself, and then corrected them naturally. My average time of correction of a depressive state in myself is about a half a day (twelve hours). This is true even for depressive episodes that are longstanding (months), or are deep enough to involve suicidal ideation.

For about nine years I have known deep in my heart that I have learned a number of things about the correction of depression that are important for the whole world. I have made repeated efforts to be heard in this regard. However, I have yet to find the colloboration or support that I seek to see that this knowledge moves forward as it should.

What I have learned in helping my son Willy to recover from childhood bipolar disorder improves on what was already a world leading degree of knowledge in regard to how to correct depression naturally. Willy’s baggie of synergistic nutrients represents a substantial improvement to my prior knowledge. I now use baggies to treat depression in myself, in combination with a number of gut correction and dietary measures as discussed in the material below.

I don’t have the computer time to write a new document that contains all that I know of how to correct depression naturally at this point. However, it would not be that hard for someone to take the knowledge in the document below and merge it with knowledge contained in some of my more recent material in regard to my son’s recovery (and his baggie of synergistic nutrients).

In my opinion, the merge of Willy’s baggie with concepts in the material below (and some of my other written work) represents the highest degree of knowledge on the planet in regard to understanding and/or treating depression naturally (in most persons that are so afflicted).

Hopefully, my son Willy’s miraculous health recovery will help the world recognize “the great healing truths” contained in my prior written work. If the world “cannot hear my son” as well, then perhaps some day the world will be able “to hear the man in Ohio” that discovered that what Willy and I were doing to supplement ourselves could rather immediately resolve the schizophrenic symptoms of “hearing voices” and “seeing things”.

I pray that someone in this world with adequate means to effect change will read this material, believe what I am truthfully saying, and then take appropriate action. (I do not have the means to move the truths contained in this blog forward, such that they could help millions of persons, as I know they should.)

Concepts and Ideas to Treat [or Cure] Depression Naturally (2003)

By Allen Darman

The following material regards the use of amino acids and other natural measures to treat depression. Additionally, it discusses concepts that are often germane to the treatment of a depressive state.

The concepts and approaches suggested in this material certainly do not apply to everyone suffering from depression. However, many of the concepts and approaches discussed below may be germane to many, if not most, persons in a depressed state. These concepts and approaches certainly apply to myself. They have also applied to every one else that I have treated for depression (admittedly only about six persons).

Currently the medical model almost summarily uses various antidepressant medications in to treat depression. Simplistically stated, these medications operate to increase availability of, or the usage of, certain neurotransmitters in the brain such as serotonin and/or dopamine. They do so to alleviate the symptoms of depression.

Many orthomolecular and naturopathic practitioners and books extol the use of 5HTP or the amino acid tryptophan to order to increase one’s serotonin level, and the use of the amino acids tyrosine, phenylalanine, or both to increase the dopamine level in the brain. They recommend this for the treatment of depression. Certainly, these amino acids, taken along with the necessary vitamin and mineral cofactors, do exactly as intended, which is to increase serotonin or dopamine in one’s brain. And certainly, doing so often substantially alleviates the symptoms of depression.

The substitution of antidepressants that work on the serotonin or dopamine axis with nutrient precursors that do the same represents “an allopathic conceptual approach” to depression.

However, depression, far more often than not, is not simply a lack of serotonin or dopamine or both. This is true even if raising the levels of one or both of these two key neurotransmitters often brings substantial relief to this state of mental and physical dysfunction.

Depression, far more often than not, is a broad deficiency state across most, if not all, of the entire neurotransmitter range, and there are about 100 known neurotransmitters. Once depression is recognized as such, it is profoundly treatable in an amazingly short time.

Incidentally, stress is often blamed for the onset of a depressive state. This fact skews the real truth here. It is simply the fact that stress is very biochemically depleting, and therefore depression is the end result. A depressed person is just not getting enough nutrients in which to deal effectively with stress as a result of malabsorption, an inadequate diet, or both. A nutrient replete person can deal with a rather inordinate amount of stress, even if this stress is felt on a chronic basis. However, as soon as a person under chronic stress falls short in the nutrient department, depression is the inevitable end result. And despite the same stressors being present, as soon as this same person under great stress becomes nutrient replete again, they are no longer depressed in any degree whatsoever. This I know for a fact as a result of hundreds of informal self trials of inducing and then correcting depression in myself within the past four years, and as the result of a great deal of research and other experience.

In my recovery from manic depression, I began to use tryptophan, tyrosine, and phenylalanine in mid 1997, with very substantial and positive mood effect. I initially used tryptophan, taurine, and GABA daily for brain inhibition and to assist with sleep (this regime is very similar to what Julia Ross suggests in her book “The Mood Cure”). I also used the key nutrient combination of 500 mg. of L-carnitine in the morning and phosphatidyl choline throughout the day to slow the spontaneous rate of neuronal firing in my brain, an effect that was very similar to lithium. In addition to this, to treat depression in myself I used both tyrosine alone and/or a tyrosine/phenylalanine combination on a fairly regular basis from May 1997 until February 2000. The use of tryptophan, tyrosine, and phenylalanine did substantially help me to alleviate depression in myself, and I learned a great deal from the use of these amino acids.

I later found that just increasing my serotonin and dopamine levels, as helpful as this was to my mood and well being for a few years or so, was a rather weak approach to treating depression in both myself and other persons vs. increasing the levels of all of my neurotransmitters all at once.

One must realize that out of the roughly 100 known neurotransmitters, 99 of them are amino acid based, and the key exception here is acetylcholine. Assuming that all of the vitamin and mineral cofactors are present for all neurotransmitters to be produced, the entire amino acid range, choline (or phosphatidyl choline, it’s more active form), and L-carnitine (an often key accessory nutrient) represents precursor loading of the entire neurotransmitter range, for all ostensible purposes.

In February of 2000, I began to experiment with taking broad based amino acids, rather than simply taking a few individual ones to treat depression in myself. Almost immediately, by a process of trial and error, I found that a mixture of two readily available blends of amino acids, along with added tryptophan, carnitine, phosphatidyl choline, and vitamins B complex and C, would boost me out of any degree of depression that I was in and/or keep me out of depression entirely if I took it in adequate quantity often enough.

Specifically, the two blends of amino acids that I am referring to here are Pure Form 20 and WAC blend from http://www.jomarlabs.com. After trial and error of a number of Jomar Laboratories blended amino acid products in early 2000, I settled on a 50/50 mix of these two specific blends to affect mood change in myself. [Years after this blog was written I found that a 50/50 mix was not the best mix for many. Most persons do better on a 2 to 1 or 3 to 1 mix, Pure Form always being the larger amount.] These two blends are quite reasonable in cost, reasonable enough for most persons to be able to afford in quantity. Pure Form 20, which is 20 different amino acids, costs only $11.00 for 125 500mg caps, $38.60 for 500 500 mg caps, and $120.60 for 1000 grams (one kilogram) of powder. WAC blend costs only $28.30 for 505 450mg caps. or $88.00 for 1000 grams (one kilogram) of powder. I would commonly get a kilogram of each blend in either powder (the powder does not taste too good! yuck!) or capsule form and take between 30 and 50 grams or more in total of these blends on a daily basis (15 to 25 grams of each blend). To these amino acid blends, I would add some tryptophan, for which I had a prescription, and ALWAYS add carnitine and phosphatidyl choline as well (if I did not add choline I would get a bit of a headache if I took too large a dosage of these two blends). I would also always take vitamins B complex and C at the same time, along with lots of water.

The effect of my using the broad based neurotransmitter precursor approach discussed above on my mood and well being was, and still is, absolutely awesome!, compared to my prior approach of just using tryptophan, tyrosine, and phenylalanine in order to effect mood change in myself.

A crucial catch to my taking amino acids and other nutrients orally in order to change my neurotransmitter levels was that I had to be adequately absorptive in my gut for enough nutrients to be absorbed. Being adequately absorptive in the gut is not always the case in a person that is depressed. The reverse here is almost invariably true in myself, i.e. when I have become depressed, I am seriously malabsorptive as well. Depression and a serious degree of malabsorption are nearly synonymous.

As the result of literally hundreds of informal self-trials since late 1997, I have found that the absorptive rate in my intestines could, and often did, vary widely from day to day and week to week, depending on a number of common variables (and I have become very familiar with them all). I have found that a serious degree of malabsorption in myself can be rather readily corrected, once I learned what to do in this regard.

To give the reader a bit better idea here, on a scale of one to ten, I could, and often was, absorbing a degree of “8” one day (good) and a degree of “3” the next (poor), and vice versa. Even a single exposure to a rather small amount of a food that I was allergic to could substantially impair my intestinal absorptive ability for days, assuming that I did not recognize this and intervene. I also learned that if I was bloated in my abdominal area to any significant degree, it meant that I was malabsorptive to some degree… and that the more bloated I was, the more malabsorptive I was as well. In addition, I learned that if I was exposed to a lot of allergic food, that I could quite easily get to the point where I could not even absorb water well, much less almost any nutrients at all, until this situation was resolved. And lastly, I learned how to massively correct my nutrient absorptive rate within a matter of hours.

Once I learned how to correct my nutrient absorptive rate within a matter of hours, I could effect absolutely profound change in my mood and well being a handful of hours after this as well, as I could get a high quantity of essential nutrition into my body. I have found that it does not take the brain that long to build a lot of neurotransmitters, once it has adequate nutrient raw material to work with. Even four or five hours can be extremely significant in this regard.

Once I put the above concepts together, I realized that I had gained complete and profound control of any and all states of depression in myself, as well as I could avoid such states entirely if I so wished to do so. This is a fact that has been true for over three and a half years. It is also a fact that I fully expect will remain so for the rest of my life, as long as I have access to the supplements discussed here (which is sometimes not the case due to inadequate fiscal means).

I can quite literally correct a state of very severe depression with suicidal ideation in myself within a single day. I have intentionally induced and then corrected such a severe state of depression many dozens of times in myself in the past five years within the timeframe specified. I have also corrected well over a hundred states of serious depression that were simply not severe enough to exhibit suicidal ideation during this same period of time as well. These corrections of depression represent a very profound degree of mood change within amazingly short time. They also represent a degree of mood change that no one else in the world is able to perform as quickly as I can in regard to either them self or anyone else, to the best of my knowledge. I am not stating this for any ego need; I am stating this because it is the truth.

Incidentally, for over four years I have tried to find some party involved medical research anywhere in the world that would take a solid look at what I am doing to treat depression in myself to determine its validity, and then determine how applicable what I am doing is in regard to other bipolar persons. As a layman, I am fully aware that my ability to bring forth the many important truths in this document is almost nonexistent. This entire situation is a real shame, for in essence it may mean that a number of truly revolutionary concepts are at a complete standstill in regard to the most effective treatment of a depressed state in the majority of bipolar persons. However, it is my opinion that the seeds of truth represented here will eventually move forward, even if it takes decades in which to do so. These seeds of truth are just much too valid and far too important to be ignored forever, even if their primary discoverer was a layperson that had a history of mental illness.

A number of realizations came about as the result of my performing the above on myself on a repetitive basis over the past four years, as well as my treatment of a few other persons.

One realization that I had, and clearly the most important, was that the human brain is far more protein dependent than most persons realize. Everyone knows that their muscles need protein, but few know that that their brain, as small as it is, probably needs, uses, and uses up more protein that all of their muscles put together, despite the fact that their muscle mass is far greater than their brain mass.

A second realization that I had is that it is often very helpful conceptually to think of a state of depression as just a protein deficient state that has “tripped over to the point of body and brain dysfunction”.

The third realization that I had is that when the above occurs (a state of protein deficiency that has gone too far), it is extremely common for a person to crave “cheat fuels” such as sugar or alcohol, rather than protein, which is what they really need. Cheat fuels only make things worse, not better. Often, just the simple measure of eating a large piece of broiled fish instead of getting that box of ice cream or that bottle of vodka when you first sink into a state of depression represents very powerful and effective chemical intervention. This measure is even much more effective when a powerful digestive enzyme such as DigestEnz is used to assist in the protein breakdown of protein foods. EVERY depressed person should be using such a digestive enzyme at every single meal when they are depressed.

The fourth realization that I had, and one of the many reasons for this post, was that I realized that the common naturopathic approach of using the amino acids of tryptophan (or 5HTP), tyrosine, and phenylalanine to treat depression was a flawed conceptual approach that was probably the result of copying the medical model approach to depression (which is simply monkeying with serotonin and dopamine levels in order to alleviate depression, for the most part).

The fifth realization that I had was that I found that other persons responded to the amino acid blends of Pure Form 20 and WAC in dosages that were often much different than that which I often needed. I found that some depressed persons responded quite well to as little as eight grams total (four grams of each blend) of the two amino acid blends I was using, some responded quite well to fifteen grams total of these blends, and for some persons fifteen grams total was way too much, etc.

The sixth realization that I had was that if these amino acid blends were taken in dosages that were too high for one’s biochemistry at the moment, that they could quite easily become hypomanic or manic on these blends, similar to a bipolar person taking too much tyrosine, phenylalanine, or aspartic acid at once. One ALWAYS needs to “slowly dose up” with these blends, being cautious to not become too manic if they are bipolar (or even if they are “normal”), the same as when they are taking tyrosine or other excitatory amino acids. Another idea that might help here is to add some taurine to these two blends, as taurine is almost always inhibitory, such that the resultant mixture might be more balanced in regard to excitation and inhibition.

The seventh realization that I had in taking these two blends and the additional nutrients that I mentioned, was that the hair on my head grew in both thicker and faster and that the muscles on my arms and legs both grew noticeably and became firmer, despite the fact that I was not exercising at all. These were both unexpected side effects, and most welcome ones.

Protein, in the form of free from amino acids, enormously helps me, both physically and mentally. Protein, in the form of steak, fish, etc. also helps me greatly, but not nearly as much or as fast as free form amino acids do. This appears to be true even though I have recognized and treated a severe deficiency of HCL (stomach acid) in myself. I need, and I take, as many as 20 to 25 625mg. HCL capsules when I eat a large meal, and 7 or 8 capsules of HCL for even a single small can of tuna fish. Digestive enzymes do help my mood and well being when I eat high protein foods as well, due to the fact that they break this protein down better such that it can be absorbed into the body. However, the use of digestive enzymes coupled with eating protein foods does not help me nearly as much as when I am severely depressed as the taking of amino acids as I am suggesting here does.

The eighth realization that I had, a realization that came a bit later than those above, is that it is ALWAYS wise to add fish oil and the other “good oils” to one’s regime when they taking high dosage free form amino acids such as I am suggesting here. Don’t neglect these good oils when you are using amino acids, and try to take some the same day. The brain is 60% fat, and fat is clearly important to its proper function.

The ninth realization that I had is that correcting floral status in the gut is often CRUCIAL to the correction of a state of depression. “Good bacteria” in my gut does seem to help me substantially when I eat high protein foods. Adequate good gut bacteria appear to me to play a key role in protein utilization for reasons that are unclear to me at this time (I use the probiotic powdered Primal Defense for this).

The tenth realization that I had is that the repetitive juicing of raw organic non-allergic vegetables ought to always be used to treat a depressive state (and eat some of the fiber as well, don’t throw it all out). Juicing is mineralizing, it is alkalizing, it is “gut healing”, it does not need either digestive enzymes or HCL to help someone tremendously (even if they are in deficient in these secretions), and it contains a powerful array of essential and easily absorbed nutrients.

The eleventh realization that I had is that alternative medicine is close to putting together an intervention for depression that would be so powerful and so fast acting in enough persons that it could revolutionize the treatment of depression worldwide in a matter of a few short years. Unfortunately, they just do not realize this at all yet, despite my stating this to many persons in this movement for the last few years. Alternative medicine did teach me most of the puzzle pieces reflected in this material. Alternative medicine just has not coupled these pieces together well such that they can generate the amazing results that I know from a great deal of experience are possible. In my opinion, it is only a matter of time before alternative medicine does couple these puzzle pieces together. As a result of what I know, I am morally obligated to do all that I can for the rest of my life to be a catalyst in this event occurring.

Nothing that I have done (and I have tried much) has done more for me both physically and mentally than adequately correcting my gut absorptive status (within a matter of hours) and taking the free form amino acid blends and the necessary added nutrients that I have mentioned here have done for me, both mood-wise and otherwise, or is even close. These necessary added nutrients I am speaking of here are tryptophan, phosphatidyl choline, carnitine, EFA’s, and the entire vitamin and mineral range for the most part.

Quite obviously, the use of an amino acid such as glutamine can increase one’s intestinal absorptive rate substantially. Therefore some dosage adjustment may need to be made when preceding the use of broad based amino acids an hour or two before with glutamine. The use of glutamine to heal the gut and increase absorption in a person that is depressed is perhaps always wise trial intervention. However, the use of glutamine, as it increases absorption, will cause difficulties if the issue of hidden food allergy has not been properly dealt with. Glutamine can, and often does, result in greater absorption of food allergens, at least temporarily.

Much less obvious than the above, if not quite rarely known, is that the usage of a high dosage bentonite/psyllium/water combination prior to taking glutamine can “unblock” a number of common problematic issues in the intestine within a matter of hours, and thus allow one to substantially increase their nutrient absorption rate as well (assuming the use of such a combination is not contraindicated for some reason). High dosage bentonite/psyllium/water acts as a “gooey sticky plug” that travels down the intestines, cleaning out a number of common problematic issues as it does so. This “gooey sticky plug” can, and does, very effectively remove yeast, many “bad bugs”, undigested food, allergic food residue, excess mucous, etc. from the gut. In the proper dosage for one’s gut size and gut status, high dosage bentonite/psyllium/water is a gut cleansing routine that is unparalleled, in my opinion. However, if there is any bleeding in the stomach or intestines, any ulceration, any serious gut abnormality, any allergy to psyllium, any severe constipation, and/or any stricture (see Bernard Jensen’s “Tissue Cleansing Through Bowel Management”) in the gut, the use of such a gut cleansing routine may be contraindicated.

When I take a high dose of bentonite/psyllium/water to purge my gut, I know that I am going to need to replace my good bacteria as well. I have found that if I only wait 4 to 6 hours after taking a very high dose of bentonite, etc. that I can take an unusually high dose of a good probiotic and experience no serious die off reaction whatsoever, despite the fact I was high in candida and/or bad bacteria before I took this cleansing routine. It took me years of playing with this stuff to really know what I needed to do here, and what dosages, etc. worked well for me.

I have also found that if I waited until the next day before I took a high dose probiotic after gut cleansing, that I would get a pretty serious die off reaction (I reach for high dose vitamin C and lots of water on a repetitive basis when this happens, and it helps enormously). Apparently, candida and bad bacteria proliferate very quickly in the gut (I once saw a reference stating that candida can double in 20 minutes in the gut, and my feeling here is that bad bacteria can proliferate very quickly as well).

The keys to do the therapy that I am suggesting here effectively are both proper timing and proper dosage of the substances taken, or for someone to at least be in “the right ballpark” in these regards. However, there is some latitude for error here, and this latitude is sometimes quite substantial.

It took me quite some time to work all of the above out in myself. This was because I was in entirely new and uncharted territory in regard to many of the concepts and substances used, as well as the dosages of these substances. The effort I made here was well worth it. I gained a profound degree of control over depression in myself, after having regularly suffered recurrently from depression and severe depression for over thirty-five years. It also appears likely to me that what I am doing to treat depression in myself may ultimately represent a very important breakthrough in the understanding and treatment of depression the world over. And yes, I am fully aware that the aforementioned, despite it most probably being the truth, is perhaps still a decade or two away from being realized, if not longer. This long delay is due in part to the fact that there is very little motivation by the current medical model to replace their current treatment methodology of using anti-depressive medication to treat depression, as well as there is a great deal of fiscal and other motivation for them not to do so. This delay is also due to the fact that there is not anywhere in the world at the current time for a bipolar person “to go be heard by medical research” if and/or when this person discovers something of substantial importance about his or her illness.

I do suggest that if you are a practitioner using amino acids to treat depression, that you consider using ideas similar to that which I suggest here vs.simply just using tyrosine, phenylalanine, or a combination of both to treat depression in a person. In my opinion, simply suggesting tyrosine and phenylalanine for the treatment of depression is quite outdated, despite the fact that it is still recommended by some persons in the alternative health movement. However, this is a very simple approach, and it often gives enough results to get the patient far more interested in using amino acids and other nutrients to correct depression. Perhaps these are its greatest values.

I do suggest using great caution in the beginning in regard to the dosages recommended, as well as getting the patient fully involved in this issue of dosage from day one. The lines “I can give you a great deal of help steering you in the right direction as far as what nutritional substances to use to effect profound mood change in yourself, but only you can determine the proper dosage for your biochemistry” and “dose up slowly, monitoring the effect in yourself, being cautious to not take too much that you become manic” puts the burden of “what is the proper dosage?” on the patient, where it should ALWAYS lie anyway.

I also cannot recommend enough that if you are using excitatory amino acids with your patients that you first assist them in defining an effective inhibitory nutrient regime for themselves before using any excitatory nutrients whatsoever. This takes a huge amount of the risk out of the above excitatory nutrient regime in regard to it’s making someone too manic, as an answer will already be in place for this. This should really be a must. I refuse to teach any person how to use excitatory nutrients until they learn how to use inhibitory ones, ESPECIALLY if they are bipolar.

In addition, I highly suggest that before any practitioner recommends the above to other persons, that they personally experiment with this regime themselves. A single bottle of 500 caps each of Pure Form 20 and WAC blend costs a total of only $66.90 plus shipping, and tryptophan, carnitine, phosphatidyl choline and the other necessary cofactors will not break anyone’s piggy bank. This stuff will not hurt a “normal person”, and it could teach them a great deal about what amino acid therapy is truly all about.

Never forget the two most common causes of recurrent depression in anyone. These are the issues of the likelihood of multiple hidden food allergies and the likelihood of intestinal dysbiosis. Usually when some one has one of these problems, they almost always have the other as well. These two common problematic issues always ought to always be assessed and/or addressed in any person that suffers from either bipolar disorder or recurrent depression. A possible lack of digestive enzymes and stomach acid ought to be always be assessed and/or addressed in this population as well, especially if the person in question is over 40 years of age.

Lastly, I am not representing that a 50/50 mix of Pure Form 20 and WAC blend from http://www.jomarlabs.com along with added tryptophan is an ideal amino acid blend for the treatment of depression or anything else. It is simply the best and most affordable amino acid mixture that I have found to date, without someone being priced out of the market if they are taking this stuff regularly in the dosages that I am suggesting here. I am quite sure that, at some point in the future, someone is going to develop a better, more balanced, and perhaps equally affordable broad based amino acid mixture for the treatment of depression than that which I have proposed here.

[After the above document was written in 2003, I continued to learn more. In 2004, I learned that some persons respond better to a 2:1 or 3:1 ratio of Purform to WAC blend vs. the 1:1 ratio suggested in the above material. In 2004, I learned from my son Willy that it was far better to combine a wide range of nutrient and supplemental co-factors with broad based free form amino acids, and “take them all at once”, to achieve the greatest healing effect. In 2004, 2006, 2007, and 2009, I learned a good deal more in regard to adding other individual amino acids and other supplements to that which I was doing prior. In essence, as knowledge grew from the above document in regard to depression that was written in 2003, first “Willy’s Baggie”, and then “Willy’s Baggie II” were born.]

Preface

I started my War on the Internet Against the Hoax of Pharmaceutical Medicine and Other Powers that Be in the Summer of the year 2000. It was pretty scary for me in the beginning, for I knew that people were Inevitably Going To Be Sent To Kill Me. After almost four years of surviving about a dozen “killing episodes” involving perhaps three dozen individual hit attempts, I have lost all of my fears completely.

Although I Will Always Be Cautious For The Rest Of My Life, I am done being scared. If Internet Martyrdom is my ultimate fate, at this point a good portion of the upper echelon of Silicon Valley has heard, and will remember, what I have said and done. Should it occur, I know that they will not let my Internet Martyrdom go unanswered. What My Son Willy Did Between August of 2004 and February of 2008 Exposed the Enormous Hoax of Drug Oriented Medicine!, if the Truth Ever Became Known! No More ADHD! No More Bipolar Disorder! and No More Weak and Sickly Childhood Health!

The Picture below shows my eldest son Willy’s Health at the hands of conventional medicine. This picture represents my son Willy at about ten and a half years of age, after being on Ritalin for about four years for an ADHD diagnosis and classic bipolar symptoms. At this point in his life Willy was not very happy, and he had Both Seriously Compromised Mental and Physical Health.

Essentially I taught Willy verbally >>the Basic Facts that He Needed To Know<<
In Order to Become >>>An Effective Doctor of Himself<<<, and
>>>I also gave Willy the Supplement Tools<<< that he needed to do so.
Willy did the rest!

Important Prefacing Notes Dated 8/13/2013:

Nutrientscure.Wordpress.com was Originally a WordPress Website in regard to overcoming mental illness via the use of natural and non-drug means. It was essentially the story of my overcoming over three decades of bipolar symptoms in the late 1990′s, and then teaching my son Willy Darman how to overcome an ADHD diagnosis and bipolar symptoms beginning when he was thirteen years old in 2004.
The Search for a Cure for ADHD and bipolar disorder ended! with my son Willy Darman and I. We Co-Discovered these Cures for the World!
I had already found most of the proper chemical manner to correct bipolar disorder from a chemical standpoint before 2004. My son Willy Darman found “the last key idea” that was needed “to do the job right”. Willy hit a home run for the World when he came up with the Idea of “Willy’s Baggies” (of a wide range of adequately balanced nutritional and natural supplements “taken all at once”). And then Willy **Proved To The World The Validity Of What He Had Discovered** in his own personal Amazing Recovery from ADHD, Bipolar Disorder, and a History of Sickly Childhood Health.

Since the WordPress Blog Titled “The gist of nutrientscure.wordpress.com” was written On July, 12, 2010, Nutrientscure.Wordpress.com has become a rather Massive Website of over 2,900 blogs. In undergoing this Growth, Nutrientscure.Wordpress.com has greatly expanded its Original Scope of Overcoming Mental Illnesses Naturally via natural non-drug means.

When “The gist of nutrientscure.wordpress.com” was written I had already undergone two attempts on my life.  The first attempt was a singular one involving a team of two people that were sent to my motel to Atlantic City in early January 2010 in an attempt to “make me disappear like Jimmy Hoffa did”.   This attempt occurred just after a Health Freedom Conference was held in northern NJ.  At this Health Freedom Conference put on by Dr. Rima Laibow of the Natural Solutions Foundation I had connected with a conventional medical doctor that practiced in Manhattan.  This doctor expressed a strong desire and willingness to work with me and see if what my son Willy and I had discovered would help his patients suffering from depression.  The second attempt on my life occurred in late May of 2010, just after I wrote a landmark WordPress Blog titled “A Tribute To Bob Beck; A World Class Healer” on May 21, 2010.  This attempt was multiple in nature and occurred over 8 to 10 days time.  It involved repeated attempts to gain entry under false pretenses to a 14th floor apartment that I was renting in Utica, NY at the time.  If I had made one single mistake in opening the door to persons unknown to me during this time, it is extremely likely that I would have been thrown off the outside porch (or perhaps I would have been killed in some other way).

In July 2010, the focus of my WordPress Blogging was changing. Until this point Nutrientscure.WordPress.com had almost solely been a WordPress Website that dealt with Alternative Medical Knowledge I had discovered, co-discovered, and/or learned from others that were knowledgeable in regard to the same.  However, after undergoing two attempts to kill me, I began to use Google to Search for Knowledge about other persons that had been killed for what they knew or had discovered, to see if I could learn from what had happened to them. The key Search Word that I used was “suppression”, for I knew that what I had learned about the correction of mental illness naturally was being “intentionally suppressed”.

In August 2010, I wrote two Socially Significant WordPress Blogs in regard to Suppression that are still very germane today.  One is titled “Suppression Of Great Truth Is The Norm It Seems”, and the other is titled “Governmental Vs. Alternative Medicine; It Is Time For Change”.

Perhaps needless to say, the attempts on my life have continued on a sporadic but continual basis since then.  It turns out that Big Pharma and the Mafia are in bed together.  I am dead certain of this, for it has been the Mafia that has been repeatedly trying to kill me for the past 43 months or so.  It is a miracle that I am still alive.

A mutually beneficial way needs to be found (and fairly negotiated) to get the Mafia to dump their fiscal self interest in pharmaceutical medicine and “switch sides”… or America as we know it is doomed (for an unhealthy populace cannot support a healthy nation).

Thankfully, some True American Heroes finally stepped in to help me with WordPress in April 2012. Without these folks, it is extremely likely that I would have simply become another Discoverer of Alternative Medical Truths that would have died in vain.  I cannot thank those persons that are helping me from afar enough. I do not know who all of you are (I only know one of you by name), but I love you for what you have heroically done to help me, and have done for so long.

Since April 2012, Nutrientscure.WordPress.com has become a Collaborative WordPress Website of a Four Person WordPress Collaborative Internet Team. This Team is composed of four (or perhaps even more) heroic WordPress Website Development Specialists that are intuitively collaborating with each other over the Internet. Our WordPress Collaborative Internet Team not only deals with (a) the topic of overcoming mental illness naturally and here, it also deals with (b) the Suppression of Various Alternative Medical Discoveries, (c) the Suppression of a Wide Range of Free Energy Ideas, (d) the Suppression of Truth by Federal Government Bodies, especially our own Federal Government here in the United States, (e) the Loss of Internet Freedom in the United States, (f) the Startup of an Internet Freedom Event in the San Francisco Bay Area called iWoodstockiROCK4FREEDOM, or similar, (g) Conceptually Mapping Out “a New Standardized Model” of Internet Based Federal Government for America, and for other countries as well, (h) the Initiation of a JUSTIFIABLE REVOLUTION here in the United States (also here and here) and the Initiation of a JUSTIFIABLE REVOLUTION Worldwide as well as soon as it is practical or possible to do so, and (i) the Issue of Using WordPress as a Management Platform done with a little humor… (also here).

[end of Prefacing Notes]

Dear friends:

I am aware that the blogs on my Nutrientscure WordPress site are not organized, or easily found. I apologize to all for this. Hopefully, this blog will help the reader find the gist of my Nutrientscure WordPress website, without having a great deal of difficulty when doing so.

The blogs listed below primarily concern how to correct depression, ADHD, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and/or difficulty with sleep via natural means.

Some of the blogs that are listed below contain a world leading degree of understanding. This understanding is in part due to the insight I have gained regarding how to use free form amino acids properly in a therapeutic sense. It is also in part to due the insight I have gained regarding malabsorption and gut (GI tract) dysfunction. (“Mental illness” is often simply “dietary problems and gut illness causing malabsorption in disguise”.)

Incidentally, I do hope to soon complete some key blogs that belong on the list below. The most important of these unfinished blogs, and the one that immediately came to mind in this regard, is the blog titled “Willy’s Baggies and Malabsorption (March 2010)”.

I have no commercial agenda in ANY of the blogs listed below. I am NOT selling anything. I am only trying to share what I have learned about the correction of mental illness naturally. This sharing comes from a heartfelt sense of moral obligation to try to help other persons that still suffer from a similar illness to that which I once had.

Introducing the Concept of an “Educational Healing House” (2006)

http://nutrientscure.wordpress.com/2009/06/02/introducing-the-concept-of-an-educational-healing-house/

This blog regarding a healing house defines where I want to go with what I have learned in the blogs listed below. It defines “a new model of healing for the world”. A “healing house” is a conceptual model of healing that disenfranchises both conventional and alternative medicine as practiced by “doctors”… as it teaches “the patient” to become “an effective doctor of his or her self”.

My son Willy profoundly proved to the world that even a thirteen year old child can become “an effective doctor of himself”.

Willy also proved to the world that someone can become “an effective doctor of his or her self” without even reading a single alternative medical book. This is due to the fact that the body of knowledge needed to become “an effective doctor of oneself” can be verbally taught… despite using only simple words (words that almost any teenager can understand).

Many of the blogs that follow contain “seeds of knowledge” that I had gained prior to Willy’s amazing recovery. This knowledge gave me the ability to teach my son how to heal himself… when the time came that he was ready to do so.

Willy’s Five Year ADHD Bipolar Recovery Story (June 2009)

http://wp.me/p2m0Ce-6e

Preface

Below is a Picture of My son Willy Darman at about ten and a half years of age, after being on Ritalin for about four years for an ADHD diagnosis and classic bipolar symptoms that began at six years of age.

At this point in his life Willy was not very happy, and he had both Compromised Mental and Physical Health.

Below is a Picture of My Son Willy taken in February 2008 when he was about seventeen and a half years old, and after he had been applying Nutritional and Natural Therapies >to himself< for about three and a half years. No More ADHD! No More Bipolar Disorder! and No More Weak and Sickly Childhood Health!

What My Son Willy Did Between August of 2004 and February of 2008 Exposed the Hoax of Drug Oriented Medicine, if the Truth Ever Became Known!

Via their monitoring of the Internet in general, and their monitoring of my Internet Activity in particular, the U.S. Federal Government is Fully Aware of my son Willy’s Amazing ADHD/Bipolar Recovery Story, but they choose to ignore it in favor of the status quo – drug oriented medicine.

Willy’s Darman’s ADHD and Bipolar Recovery Story is Another Case of Alternative Medical Suppression by the U.S. Government, one of many over the years.

There is something really wrong with the United States Federal Government… a government that mandates ONLY the use of Pharmaceutical Drugs for all illnesses… even those that are clearly caused by broad essential nutrient deficiency due to one or more common (and correctable) malabsorptive causes.

Sadly, in repeatedly trying to share over the Internet what my son Willy and I learned in regard to how to cure ADHD, bipolar disorder, depression and schizophrenia naturally with my Fellow Americans, as many attempts as there have been to kill me since January 2010 I am extremely lucky to still be alive (No Thanks to the U.S. Government, which will not intercede to help me in any way).

Conclusion to this Preface

All Patriotic Americans Need To Learn that Pharmaceutical Medicine is Bankrupting Both the Health and the Wealth of America.

All Patriotic Americans Also Need to Learn that the U.S. Government is ultimately responsible for the above via the FDA mandate stating “ONLY A DRUG Can Diagnose, Prevent, Treat and/or Cure ALL Diseases”.

All Patriotic Americans Need to Learn that about eight months after my son Willy’s Original Recovery Story was widely disseminated on the Internet in June 2006, the FDA tried to push through a Guidance Document on short public notice that would have Labeled Every Single Nutritional Supplement on the open market “A DRUG”… to be Controlled by Medical Doctors… such that they were no longer available for sale to the general public.

The Most Basic Human Right, One That Precedes All Others, Is THE RIGHT TO ACHIEVE HUMAN HEALTH Without Governmental Interference.  This Most Basic Human Right is Being Continually Violated by the United States Federal Government, simply To Enrich those persons whose pockets are lined by the hoax of pharmaceutical medicine.

Unless the United States Government Begins To Recognize By Law the Tremendous Therapeutic Power of Nutritional Supplements And Other Natural Measures to Heal, and Begins To Recognize By Law the American Public’s Free Rights of Access to Such instead of mandating pharmaceutical medicine as per Obamacare, a Justifiable Second Revolution in America appears to be “The American Public’s Only Choice”.

Willy’s Five Year ADHD Bipolar Recovery Story (June 2009)

Posted on June 17, 2009

Dear friends:

My son Willy’s original recovery story was widely posted to the Internet in June 2006. A little over a year later, in August 2007, I widely posted “Willy’s Three Year ADHD/Bipolar Recovery Story” to the Internet as well.

It has been almost two years since “Willy’s Three Year ADHD/Bipolar Recovery Story” was posted to the Internet. Quite a few significant events have occurred since then.

My goal in this blog is to delineate the above-mentioned events, as Willy continues to progress, and these events represent anecdotal proof of such. These events also represent anecdotal proof in regard to the tremendous therapeutic power of broad based supplementation taken all at once (which I often refer to as “Willy’s Baggie”, and now “Willy’s Baggie II”, which is an improved formula).

For those of you not familiar with Willy’s recovery story, and for those that might wish a brief reminder, the gist of this story is as follows:

Beginning at age thirteen, and with only a little guidance from me (a non-custodial father), Willy began self-applying nutritional supplements and other natural measures to himself in order to overcome his rather serious learning disability (for which he received an ADHD diagnosis, and took Ritalin for about four and a half years). Willy’s academic success (an 89/90 average, with numerous high 90’s New York State Regents Exams test scores over the past three years), and the numerous awards that he has received prove that Willy has come a long way from where he was in the seventh grade (prior to supplementation), a grade in which he still had quite a bit of difficulty in regard to being able to read.

In doing what he did to overcome his learning disability, Willy also profoundly overcame a history of being a weak and sickly child throughout his childhood. Willy’s health, strength, and stamina are nearly that of a world class (Olympic) athlete, as evidenced by a recent VO2max test (explained below), and what he can do with weights.

Willy is now eighteen years old, and he is graduating high school this month.

One event that occurred recently involved an award that Willy received. I had the pleasure of attending the senior award dinner for the high school seniors that attended New Hartford High School in New Hartford, NY on June 3rd, 2009. At this senior award dinner Willy won the award for being the graduate who had “most overcome adversity” in his academic career. This was the first year this particular award was given, to the best of my knowledge. It was apparently created with Willy in mind, and it came with “a much appreciated check attached”. (I deeply appreciate the person or persons involved in doing this for my son. I cannot thank this person, or these persons, enough.)

Another event that occurred recently is rather amazing. This event concerns a VO2max test. The particulars are below.

Willy recently took a VO2max test with a number of other athletes from his high school. On this test he scored 69 ml/kg/min.

To explain a VO2max test for those that are not familiar, according to Wikipedia, VO2 max (also maximal oxygen consumption, maximal oxygen uptake or aerobic capacity) is the maximum capacity of an individual’s body to transport and utilize oxygen during incremental exercise, which reflects the physical fitness of the individual. In sports where endurance is an important component in performance, such as cycling, rowing, cross-country skiing, swimming and running, world-class athletes typically have high VO2 maximums. World-class male athletes, cyclists and cross-country skiers typically exceed 75 ml/kg/min and a rare few may exceed 85 ml/kg/min for men and 70 ml/kg/min for women.

Given the fact that Willy is only eighteen years of age, and the fact that he is more of a weightlifter than anything else, Willy’s score on this test is nothing short of amazing. The persons that administered this test to Willy told him that NO ONE THAT THEY HAD EVER TESTED WITH A BODY TYPE SUCH AS WILLY’S (THAT OF A WEIGHTLIFTER) HAD SCORED SO HIGH ON THIS TEST.

When I saw Willy’s brother Maxwell (Max) recently, I asked him if he had heard about Willy’s VO2max test results. He told me “No”. I told him that Willy beat everyone that went for this test. I also told him that the person that scored closest to Willy was a cross-country runner that scored 65 ml/kg/min. At this point, Willy came in the room. Max asked him who was the cross-country runner that he beat. When Willy told Max who it was, Max immediately said “No way. He’s a state champion” (runner). Even Max was surprised at this. And it takes a lot to surprise Max, believe me.

Weightlifters typically do not score that high on this test. Long distance runners and other forms of endurance athletes do, or are supposed to.

Although Willy is a weightlifter, he admittedly also runs. For years he typically ran for two to four miles at a time as part of his self-imposed training regime. Then he found he could run six miles without becoming excessively tired. And then he found he could run more. About six or seven months ago Willy found that he could run fourteen miles without becoming excessively tired. (He told me “Dad, I found that I just had the energy to run fourteen miles”.) So for the past six or seven months Willy has often run fourteen miles once (or sometimes twice) a week, in addition to all of his shorter runs, and all that he does to regularly train with weights. (Weightlifting is where Willy’s heart lies. The running he does is secondary to this.)

Another event, which occurred recently, is that Willy came very close to bench-pressing 325 lbs. He did so on what he said was “a bad day for him” (he just did not feel “peak”, but wanted to see what he could do that day). Willy got to the very top of the lift of 325 lbs., and decided for the last little bit that it was wise to get a little help, as he was straining so much, and he does not want to risk a career ending shoulder injury.

Willy has been bench-pressing 315 lbs. for quite some time now. He can do two full repetitions at this weight, and almost complete a third. (Willy knows that his maximum for bench pressing is higher than 315 lbs., due to the fact that he can do multiple repetitions of this weight. However, he also knows that if he is too aggressive and tries to go “too far to fast” he can tear his shoulder out, and this ends his competitive lifting career altogether. I could not agree with Willy more in regard to being cautious with bench-pressing such high weights, especially in light of the fact that he only weighs 180 lbs. himself.)

Willy recently showed me that he can lay on the floor, head near a wall, with his hands on the floor on either side of his head, and then can pick his legs up and “keep on going”… such that he is then doing “push ups” against the wall, with his legs suspended in the air. He did 28 of these “wall push-ups” once. Willy tells me that no one that he knows can do as many of these “wall push-ups” as he can, or come even close.

As I reported a few months ago, last fall Willy did one hundred and twenty-two (122) “uphill sit-ups” on an inclined plane with a fifty pound plate on his chest. A person at his health club told him this was either a New York State record or close to it, assuming that the Internet reference that this person found was true. I mention this again here, as it is an event that occurred since Willy’s last recovery story was written in 2007.

Another event that occurred only a matter of a week or so after Willy’s last recovery story was written is rather incredible as well. In mid-August of 2007, Willy’s first year on the football team, soon after football practice began he tore his ACL. This injury involved a full tear, and not a partial one. A full tear of the ACL ligament needs to be operated on for the ACL to reattach to the knee.

This operation was never done, in part due to the fact that Willy healed from this injury so well and so fast. The people treating Willy for this injury were amazed at how well Willy recovered from this serious injury. (Willy reported to me repeatedly that his “Willy’s Baggies” of supplements helped tremendously in regard to healing.) By late September, perhaps five weeks after Willy tore his ACL, he was running miles. In early or mid-October, six or seven weeks after being hurt, Willy told me that he was up to leg pressing 200 lbs. on a repetitive basis (about half of the weight he was doing prior to getting hurt).

Normally, a full ACL tear that is not operated on means the absolute end of one’s football career. Despite both Willy’s football coaches, and the doctor that gave him a physical for football in his senior year, knowing that Willy had a torn ACL, he was allowed to go out for football. Willy fully participated in football practices and played in many of the games, He made it through the season without having any problems with his problematic knee whatsoever. (His team won the Sectional title, a game played in the Carrier Dome in Syracuse, NY.)

For a person in high school to get a full ACL tear injury, not have it operated on (such that the ACL is still unattached), and still be allowed to play football the very next season, is unheard of, to the best of my knowledge. Willy simply carries on as though this injury “never happened”… despite the fact that it did, and the damage was never surgically repaired. If this is not a testament to the power of “Willy’s Baggies” of supplements, I don’t know what is.

Another event that occurred recently is that the health club Willy attends offered him a job as a physical trainer. This is not a job he asked for, it is a job that was offered him due to the knowledge that he has, and he accepted it. Willy has in a sense now become a professional trainer, as he is being paid for what he knows. (Willy has read a number of weightlifting books. He also learned about physical training from his high school coaches and some persons at the health club that he goes to. However, Willy has been “his own trainer” over the years for the most part.)

And lastly, an event of very minor significance compared to the rest, is that Willy is one of only two young men that were asked to pose for the art class in high school, due to their physique, and the fact that the four major muscle groups in their upper legs were so well defined.

Conclusion

I have a great deal to thank Willy for in regard to his insistence at age thirteen “Dad, just put all of the supplements that helped you together, and I will take them all at once” (thus “Willy’s Baggie” of supplements was born). This simple-to-implement approach, along with daily supplementation with probiotics, mealtime supplementation of vitamin B complex, vitamin C, and digestive enzymes, and some allergic food avoidance (especially milk and eggs) has resulted in an absolutely profound change in Willy’s physical and mental health.

Willy’s “combined supplement approach” has also resulted in “a big part of a solid chemical answer” for depression, ADHD, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and other illnesses being discovered, assuming that the anecdotal evidence generated thus far holds up when being used with other many persons. (I firmly believe that this will be found true some day.)

Willy will be going to college in the fall. He intends on attending a community college in Utica, NY, and then transferring to a four year school. Willy’s goal is to become a high school physics teacher. (This may be a wise career choice in today’s unsound economy. It may also be a wise career choice for anyone that intends to become a parent, as one has “the summer off”.) As a minor, Willy is considering learning how to be a physical trainer, as he is doing this already, and he enjoys “teaching what he knows”.

Who knows what Willy can do in the future if he gains a little more knowledge, and has a little more time? It’s anyone’s guess at this point. I am betting on Willy, as he has certainly shown that he has the discipline and work ethic to achieve even more than he has achieved thus far.

And who knows what Willy can do in the future both athletically and academically if he supplemented with “Willy’s Baggies” of supplements (or “Willy’s Baggie II”, the next generation of our knowledge) every single day, instead of every other day, as he has been doing for years (due to the expense involved).

Regardless of what may happen in the future… Hoorah Willy!!! I am so proud of what you taught your teachers, your fellow students, and “the rest of us” in regard to what can be self-achieved in regard to mental and physical health recovery. Keep up the great work!

Sincerely,

Allen Darman

Willy Darman’s Three Year ADHD/Bipolar Recovery Story (August 2007)

Tweetable Link>>> http://wp.me/p2m0Ce-4O

Preface dated 8/21/2013

Willy Darman’s Three Year ADHD/Bipolar Recovery Story

Written in August 2007

My son Willy was diagnosed with ADHD at six years old, and began taking Ritalin for this diagnosis about a year later. Unfortunately, things were even worse than this, as Willy exhibited classic bipolar symptoms at this age as well. Not only did he think about suicide at the tender age of six, he could talk non-stop at a very rapid pace for over an hour despite four other people being in a car. Although never diagnosed with bipolar disorder, Willy was likely to be third generation bipolar (my mother, myself, and then himself).

Willy was a sickly child throughout his childhood. He was much smaller than most other children his age. He also exhibited “easy bruising”, he had very soft teeth, he had chronic nosebleeds, and he was so sensitive to cold that I even bought him a wetsuit to go swimming with during the summer.

The biggest part of Willy’s learning disability was that “he just could not read”. Year after year he would be passed on to the next grade without the ability to read. Although his verbal comprehension was always fairly good, his reading comprehension was not. Even as late as seventh grade, Willy would often rely on his brother to read a few words on a computer screen for a video game he was playing… and Willy never read books at home on his own.

Willy’s mental and physical health today is a much different story.

At the end of ninth grade attending New Hartford Junior High School last year (2006), Willy won the Principal’s award (only four children out of about 200 received this award). He also won three other academic awards, got an 89 and a 91 on two Regents exams, and made the Honor Roll for the first time in his academic career.

This past year Willy’s academic progress continued. He repeated making the Honor Roll last November, he got a 98 on a midterm Regents exam in January, and he got a 95 on the only Regents exams he took this June. Willy also received two academic awards for effort at the end of tenth grade this year. All of this from a child that had failed third grade, was on Ritalin for about four and a half years, and was considered to be severely reading impaired as late as the end of seventh grade (June 2004).

And the best news as far as I am concerned is that for the past few years Willy can finally read books, and he reads what he is interested in on his own. He still needs to improve on his spelling, but Willy has come so far these past three years that I am sure he will be able to spell well eventually.

Willy’s change in physical health over the past three years has been no less than miraculous. Willy was only able to bench press sixty pounds about four times in August 2004. At the end of ninth grade last year Willy could bench press 250 lbs., despite only weighing 151 lbs. himself. Willy now weighs about 175 lbs. and is only sixteen years old, but he can bench press 300 lbs., leg press 400 lbs. over 25 times, do one arm pull-ups, and do twenty five or more sit ups “uphill” on an inclined bench with a fifty pound plate on his chest (he tells me that no one that goes to his health club can do this). Willy recently won an informal weightlifting contest at the health club he attends in New Hartford, a contest in which he was competing with some persons that were both much older and much heavier than himself. In essence, Willy went from almost the weakest child in his class three years ago, to one of the strongest young men in his entire school, and he did so on his own, without any parental pushing at all.

Despite Willy having mood swings and classic bipolar symptoms throughout most of his childhood, beginning at six years of age, Willy is now “rock solid mood stable”… and he will almost certainly be so throughout the rest of his natural life. Willy simply knows far too much about “how to cure himself”, and how to remain very healthy, to ever suffer from “bipolar” mood swings again.

Willy’s amazing turnaround in both physical and mental health began on a camping trip in the Adirondack mountains in New York State three years ago. On this trip I had brought over $500. worth of nutritional supplements with me as a result of Willy having repeatedly expressed an interest to take them. Willy had told me for months prior to this camping trip that “I want to get better the way you got better”, even though he knew his mother (my ex-wife) was adamant against the use of such. (I am a non-custodial father, and I have no legal right to intervene with Willy’s health care decisions. However, when Willy began to ask for my help in 2004, despite what the law said, as a father I really had no choice but to help my son.)

When I began to tell Willy on this camping trip that “you should take these supplements in the morning, these at lunch, and these at dinner”, Willy immediately said “No way! I have to hide all of this from Mom. Dad, I can only sneak in supplements once a day.” So I did something very unusual, which was to combine over 60 capsules or tablets of nutritional and natural supplements in a plastic baggie for Willy to take all at once. I also gave him a bottle of probiotics to take on the side. (Willy was only thirteen years old when he first began to supplement himself in this way.)

About five months after Willy began to apply nutritional and natural supplements to himself at home, “we” got caught. In December 2004 I was asked to attend a meeting at New Hartford Junior High School in which I had to admit to my ex-wife and to some school officials what Willy and I had been doing. Thankfully, Willy had already come so far in his recovery that my ex-wife wisely relented her stance against the use of nutritional supplements. At this point she let Willy and I continue to work together without interference.

Although Willy said he felt great for about four days from the very first baggie of supplements that he took, I never thought Willy would come as far as he has from such a simple to implement approach involving a wide range of nutritional supplements taken all at once every other day or so, with some vitamins, digestive enzymes, probiotics, etc. taken in between. I sure was wrong in this assumption, as Willy’s recovery these past three years has been rather substantial, to say the least. He just keeps getting healthier and stronger month after month, and he has no symptoms of either ADHD or bipolar disorder whatsoever. Willy is simply a happy and contented young man, and one that tries his best at all times.

I first discovered the wisdom of alternative medicine in the summer of 1997. As a result of this, Willy did have laboratory tests taken of his mineral and amino acid levels (www.metametrix.com) in the fall of 1997. Dr. Charles Gant, an alternative doctor, administered these tests. The test results showed that Willy was low in all essential minerals tested, with the exception of copper, which he was high in. They also showed that Willy was low across the entire amino acid range.

Unfortunately, Willy’s pediatrician, a conventional medical doctor, totally ignored the abovementioned test results of many essential nutrient levels. These test results were not acted upon for almost seven years, until Willy began to supplement himself in August of 2004.

Sadly, essential nutrient levels simply don’t matter at all to the conventional medical system and conventional medical doctors in the United States. By FDA mandate (law), ONLY A DRUG can be used to diagnose, treat, or cure any disease. Essential nutrients such as vitamins, minerals, and amino acids are not drugs. Doctors actually face being brought up on charges before a medical review board, and the potential loss of their license to practice medicine, if they effectively address nutrient deficiencies in ADHD children rather than use drugs (such as Ritalin, Concerta, Adderall, etc.). In addition to this, doctors cannot make money by prescribing nutritional supplements, as any member of the public can simply buy what they need off of the Internet or in a health food store.

The sad truth is that pharmaceutical money controls and directs medical reality. As a result of this doctors continue to treat serious nutrient deficient states (such as ADHD, bipolar disorder, autism, etc.) in persons with drugs. These drugs never actually cure such illnesses, but only mask (hide) one’s symptoms. Doctors and medical researchers continue to ignore the fact the therapeutic use of nutrients and other natural measures can cure people of ADHD and bipolar disorder (the anecdotal evidence is absolutely overwhelming in these regards). Only drugs matter and essential nutrient levels don’t matter at all. This is how backward (corrupt?) the conventional medical system in the U.S. actually is.

The use of nutrients to deal with ADHD and bipolar disorder is only common sense. Early on in his recovery I taught Willy the basics of the human body as follows: if one takes the water out of an average human body, the remainder by weight would be about 70% amino acids, 20% fats, 5% minerals, and a small amount of vitamins and toxins. I also taught Willy that there are roughly 100 known neurotransmitters, and that 99 of these are primarily amino acid based, with various vitamins and minerals often needed in their production. From my own experience, I knew that supplementing with vitamins, minerals, and broad based free form amino acids readily increases almost all neurotransmitters. Increasing neurotransmitter levels can have a profoundly positive effect on mood, brain function, and brain performance.

The single neurotransmitter that is not amino acid based is a major neurotransmitter called acetylcholine. I had also learned in my recovery that acetylcholine in my brain could be rather readily increased by supplementing with the nutrient combination of phosphatidyl choline and L-carnitine (in addition to other supplements that he would be taking). I told Willy that the nutrient combination of L-carnitine and phosphatidyl choline would probably slow his brain way down, such that he could focus much better and not be hyperactive (it did just this for Willy, just as it did for me).

There are only four classes of essential nutrients; vitamins, minerals, amino acids, and essential fatty acids. Willy’s baggie contained them all. In loading Willy’s baggie, I used a quality multi-vitamin/multi-mineral tablet readily available in many health food stores, or on the Internet. To this I added more vitamin B complex, vitamin C, calcium, magnesium, and zinc, as I felt this tablet just did not have enough for Willy’s needs. I also used broad based “good oils”, to include capsules containing coconut, fish, cod liver, flax, borage, evening primrose, and olive oil. And to cover the last class of essential nutrients, I added over twenty capsules of free form amino acids that covered the entire amino acid range, as I had found these so incredibly helpful in overcoming bipolar disorder in myself. (Twenty capsules of amino acids may seem excessive to some people, but this equates to only 10 grams of protein, or about an egg and a half’s worth.)

In addition to supplementing Willy with the entire range of essential nutrients, to his baggie I added the “supergreens” of chlorella, spirulina, and super blue-green algae (we humans just don’t eat enough greens, like chimpanzees do), quercetin (a food allergy mediator), L-carnitine and phosphatidyl choline (to cover the key neurotransmitter amino acids miss), milk thistle (a detoxification aid), grape seed extract (an antioxidant found helpful for ADHD), and some powerful digestive enzymes (all persons diagnosed with ADHD and bipolar disorder lack digestive enzymes, at least some of the time). Essentially I took every supplement that I had found to be helpful to me in overcoming manic depression in myself, and combined them in a baggie for my son, hoping for the best. I could not be more pleased with the results, nor can Willy.

Malabsorption was the reason why Willy was so deficient in essential nutrients, such that he lacked health and his brain “did not work quite right”. I taught Willy that the use of supplements is not the whole story as far as his recovery was concerned. “It is not just what you eat, or what you supplement with, it is what you digest and absorb into your body that is important”. Many essential nutrients simply get pooped out into the toilet a day or two later in persons that are absorbing well, and I told Willy that he was one of these persons, just as I was for years until I discovered the wisdom of alternative medicine and how to fix malabsorption in myself.

Alternative medicine has done a great job over the years in identifying the common factors that cause essential nutrient malabsorption in ADHD children. Dr. Doris Rapp and Dr. William Crook are two notable pioneers in this regard. Both of these doctors identified hidden food allergies and candida (a common problematic yeast in the gut) as being two of the largest factors underlying nutrient malabsorption in ADHD kids. They taught us that malabsorption due to unrecognized hidden food allergies and candida is actually the cause of ADHD in most children that receive this diagnosis. I found in my own recovery that the resolution of hidden food allergies and candida applies rather heavily to the correction (cure) of bipolar disorder as well.

On the critical issue of hidden food allergy, I taught Willy what to look for in regard to food allergens, and he has learned how to identify and at least partially avoid a number of food allergens in himself. Eggs seem to be Willy’s most serious allergen, as they are mine. Willy does not drink milk, he knows that he reacts negatively to popcorn, pizza, ice cream, and he avoids sugar, for the most part. He also eats more fresh fruits and vegetables than most children his age. A bit surprising to me is that Willy tested allergic (www.metametrix.com again) to both wheat and dairy in 1997, yet he has remarkably recovered despite not strictly avoiding these foods. Willy tells me that his baggie of synergistic nutrients has helped to reduce his food allergy reactions. He also tells me that eating a few apples or other fibrous food helps to clear out his gut after he eats allergic foods. However, Willy knows that he is wise to avoid certain foods, or he will pay a price for a little while in not feeling that well.

Willy was chronically constipated as a child, and sometimes severely so. Constipation is strongly indicative of a low amount of good gut bacteria known as probiotics. Probiotics are scientifically known to be absolutely necessary for human health. An adequate amount of probiotics (and over 95% of people are woefully inadequate in this regard) are also known to be necessary in order to keep candida, a yeast which is present in everyone to some degree, from overgrowing in the gut such that it eventually becomes problematic to one’s health.

I gave Willy various probiotics over the past three years, starting with the best I knew of (Primal Defense Ultra), and then switching to various others due to its cost. I continually harped to Willy about the critical importance of probiotics in order for him to recover. I told him repeatedly that supplementing with probiotics daily was almost as important as taking all of the supplements in his whole baggie. I also told Willy that that he should dose up slowly with probiotics (to avoid a die off reaction) to the point he was having at least one good sized bowel movement a day (and that two would be even better).

[Perhaps worthy to mention here is that a double blind study in regard to the use of probiotics by autistic children collapsed last summer due to the fact that parents refused to give their children placebos vs. probiotics, and pulled their kids out of the study, when they saw how much that probiotics had improved the autistic children that were receiving them. This study, one in which the major media in the U.S. was strangely silent on, was done by Glenn Gibson in the UK. (see http://news.scotsman.com/uk.cfm?id=1308572006)]

Incidentally, probiotics are killed by antibiotics. Willy had multiple rounds of antibiotics for ear infections as a child. Antibiotic use almost certainly caused Willy to have low probiotic levels in his gut, as well as high candida levels (one heavily relates to the other). It is inevitable (inevitable because it is the truth) that antibiotic use will be found to be a common contributory causative factor of ADHD, bipolar disorder, and autism. This is a situation that the current medical model virtually has to turn a blind eye to and completely ignore… due to the likelihood of a massive class action lawsuit against it some day, once the facts that (1) antibiotics decimate probiotics, and (2) probiotics are critical to maintaining human health (both mental and physical health) become much more widely known.

In general, Willy’s ADHD and Bipolar recovery was comprised of three basic parts: (1) Apply a wide array of nutrients that may be lacking (as his lab tests in 1997 showed), (2) while resolving all common factors that block such nutrients from adequately arriving into the body (hidden food allergies, low levels of probiotics in the gut, candida, a lack of digestive enzymes, under hydration, a lack of exercise such as walking, etc.) at the same time… and then (3) let God/Nature/the wisdom of the body (whatever term you prefer) do the rest, as far as healing is concerned.

It certainly appears that, in a very big way, the brain is simply “a secondary target organ” to “primary gut events”. Heal the gut of any problems it may have, avoid hidden food allergens, take in an adequate amount of essential nutrition in food and supplement form, and the brain will invariably follow suit (heal as well). This general principal not only seems to apply to the brain, it seems to apply to every other organ and cell in the body as well.

As well as Willy has become in the past few years, he continues to strive for more. A few months ago, I suggested to Willy that he should try a detoxification substance called zeolite to remove some of the deep toxins that may still reside in his body and brain, as the result of being chemically compromised for so many years as a child (a lack of nutrients leads to weakened detoxification ability, as all detoxification pathways in the body and the brain are 100% nutrient dependent). Willy has been slowly dosing up with zeolite drops these past few months, and reports to me that “this is real good stuff”. Not only has it cleared up some acne issues he had, he feels somewhat better from taking it (which means it is very likely to be removing some toxins that still resided in him).

Other than my own personal experience, the knowledge that I used to help my son came out of books written by Dr. Sherry Rogers (www.prestigepublishing.com, “Depression Cured At Last”, “No More Heartburn” – two “must reads”, etc.), Dr. Doris Rapp, Dr. Jeffrey Bland, Dr. William Crook, Dr. Priscilla Slagle – a free “must read” ebook called “The Way Up From Down”, and a very good beginning at conceptual understanding despite its being a bit out-of date, at www.thewayup.com, Jordan Rubin, Bernard Jensen, and others. I cannot thank these and other alternative medical authors enough; first they saved me from over thirty years of bipolar symptoms, and then they saved my son from a severe lack of health. (I cannot recommend enough that you read at least one book from all of the authors mentioned.)

Lastly, Willy, I would like to say a few words to you. You have taught the whole world something very significant about health, and about health recovery. Perhaps some day the world will have the wisdom to thank you for what you did to cure yourself, beginning at age thirteen. And son, I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart. Not only did you teach me a great deal, the baggie of nutrients that you insisted upon three years ago has greatly simplified my own chemical correction… and for the past few years it has profoundly helped me.

And Willy, it appears that your baggie of synergistic nutrients, in one form or another (as it becomes refined by others), when coupled with an adequate degree of “gut correction”, may be destined to help millions of people some day. (Willy and I believe that the very broad based and adequately balanced nutrient approach that we are using would help many people that suffer from depression. This is especially true after Willy’s baggie, some raw vegetable juice, and some allergic food avoidance got a person receiving ECT treatments for depression to immediately cease ECT. This person became substantially better from a longstanding depressive state in only a single day!, a timeframe similar to that in which the baggie helps me.)

The Alternative Medical Knowledge Underlying The Discovery Of Willy’s Baggie

http://wp.me/p2m0Ce-4E

Introduction

The Landmark Nutrientscure.WordPress.com Blog titled “Concepts and Ideas to Treat Depression Naturally (2003)” Contains The Underlying Alternative Medical Knowledge Upon Which Willy’s Baggie Was Born.

This World Leading Knowledge in regard to how to correct depression via natural means was actually generated about three years before the 2003 date reflected on the document below.

By April 2000 I had worked out the details of what I was doing to correct depression in myself to the point where I felt obligated to write Dr. Abram Hoffer (the longstanding leader of orthomolecular medicine, now deceased) and tell him that “I had hit a home run for the whole world”. By this I meant that I knew that I had stumbled into the most advanced understanding on earth of how to correct a state of depression naturally (in most so afflicted).

Unfortunately, Abram Hoffer could not accept what I had to say in the above regards, such that appropriate action was taken.

For over thirteen years I have known deep in my heart that I have learned a number of things about the correction of depression that are important for the whole world. I have made repeated efforts to be heard in this regard. However, I have yet to find the collaboration or support that I seek to see that this knowledge moves forward as it should.

I personally do not have the means to move the truths contained in this blog forward, such that they could help many millions of persons, as I know that they could.

I pray that someone in this world with adequate means to effect change will read this material, believe what I am truthfully saying, and then take appropriate action.

Concepts and Ideas to Treat Depression Naturally (2003)

Depression, far more often than not, is a broad deficiency state across most, if not all, of the entire neurotransmitter range… and there are about 100 known neurotransmitters.

This I know for a fact as a result of hundreds of informal self trials of inducing and then correcting depression in myself within the past four years [fourteen years now as of April 2013], and as the result of a great deal of research and other experience.

To give the reader a bit better idea here, on a scale of one to ten, I could, and often was, absorbing a degree of “8″ one day (good) and a degree of “3″ the next (poor), and vice versa.

In essence, as knowledge grew from the above document in regard to depression that was written in 2003, first “Willy’s Baggie”, and then “Willy’s Baggie II” and “Willy’s Baggie III”, were born.]

Preface

This WordPress Blog details my Natural Recovery From Bipolar Disorder up until the summer of 2004. It also contains links to Three of my son Willy Darmans’ Rather Amazing Recovery Stories from an ADHD Diagnosis, Classic Bipolar Symptoms, and Sickly Childhood Health beginning in the summer of 2004 at the bottom of this WordPress Blog.

Eventually someone was going to find the causative factors underlying Bipolar Disorder, and learn how to correct them. In doing so, that person was going to find “the Cure” for this rather devastating and still commonly considered “Incurable” illness.

I, Allen Darman, am that man.

For this Contribution to the Human Race, over the past three years I have gone through about twelve episodes of the Mafia trying to kill me on behalf of both Big Pharma and Itself. Many of these episodes were multiple in nature, I should have been dead at least thirty times since January 6, 2010 (the first attempt by the Mafia to kill me).

Apparently, the Mafia and Big Pharma are in bed together, and in finding the cure to bipolar disorder I threaten the fiscal interests of both.

Sadly, our Federal Government has “Internet Witnessed” the Mafia trying to repeatedly kill me, and yet does nothing. (A witness to an attempted murder that does nothing is an attempted murderer as well.)

I am now only one member of a four person WordPress Collaborative Internet Team that is trying to get the Truth Out in regard to Multiple Instances of United States Federal Government Suppression of Truth on a number of fronts.

Two of my WordPress Collaborative Internet Team Members in San Francisco have gone through Dozens of Attacks involving the use of poison gas injected into their living space since December 10th 2012. It is amazing that they are still alive, just as it is amazing that I am still alive as well.

And all four of our WordPress Collaborative Internet Team have witnessed Multiple Instances of Hacker Induced WordPress Blog Removal from a Number of Our Websites, as well as Multiple Instances of WordPress Blog Corruption on a Number of Our Websites, since December 17th 2012. (Internet Freedom in the United States of America Died on This Day! No longer can Truths that Greatly Threaten Our Federal Government be put on the Internet without them being “Under the Threat of Hacker Removal” by the very same.)

The Bottom Line of the Above is that Our United States Federal Government has got to go! It is Supporting the Suppression of a Number of Alternative Medical Discoveries, not only my own. It is also Supporting the Suppression of a Number of Free Energy Discoveries such as the “Water Powered Car”, “High Mileage Carburetors”, “Free Electricity” made without using any fossil, nuclear, wind, or solar fuel, and “Free Heat” cold fusion breakthroughs as well.

It is TIME FOR REVOLUTION IN THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA!

No voting is going to fix the Enormous Federal Government Problem that We Americans Have!
We Need To Rise Up!
We Need to Tell Our Federal Politicians that The Hoax of Democracy In America Has Been Exposed!
And We Need To Tell Them that It Is NOW Time For You To Go!

Below is a Picture of Me Taken About Eleven Years Ago. I look about the same, except now I would need to spend about $500. for a set of dentures, because at sixty years old I have no teeth!

Below is a Picture of My son Willy at about ten and a half years of age, after being on Ritalin for about four years for an ADHD diagnosis and classic bipolar symptoms. At this point in his life Willy was not very happy, and he had both Compromised Mental and Physical Health.

What My Son Willy Did Between August of 2004 and February of 2008 Exposed the Hoax of Drug Oriented Medicine, if the Truth Ever Became Known! Below is a Picture of My Son Willy taken in February 2008 when he was about seventeen and a half years old, and after he had been applying Nutritional and Natural Therapies to himself for about three and a half years. No More ADHD! No More Bipolar Disorder! and No More Weak and Sickly Childhood Health!

When I was first diagnosed with bipolar disorder (manic depression) in June of 1994, I was told by the psychiatrist treating me that my being cured of this illness was impossible.  He told me that the best I could do to deal with my illness was to take medication on a daily basis for the rest of my life.

I would like to give the reader of the material that follows  “a big dose of hope” right off the bat.  About six years later (in the year 2000), I found out how wrong the this particular  psychiatrist was in his assumption that bipolar disorder is incurable.  Bipolar disorder is an ABSOLUTELY CORRECTABLE condition of biochemical imbalance.  And it is correctable by the very person that suffers from such.  (Yes!, you can cure yourself.)   If I did not prove this in my own personal recovery, a handful of years later my teenage son Willy profoundly did in his.  And Willy also proved how easy it is to do so.  (If a severely learning impaired teenager can learn how to cure himself of bipolar disorder without seeing ANY doctor whatsoever, or reading even a single book, perhaps almost everyone that is diagnosed as bipolar can do the same.)

In 1994,  I realized that my chances of ever becoming well (cured) from manic depression were perhaps far less than that of most persons. This realization stemmed from the facts that (1) my true bipolar onset was in 1963 as an eleven year old child (amazingly I had avoided the medical model for over three decades despite very substantial bipolar symptoms), (2) over the thirty one years prior to my initial diagnosis I had already had hundreds of episodes of either very substantial mania or severe depression, and (3) I was not responding well to lithium at all.   (Lithium is a medication that seems to help many bipolar persons.  It did not work well for me.  Even on a low dosage of 900 mg. of lithium my hands shook uncontrollably, such that I could hardly sign my name without using my other hand to help.  On 900 mg. of lithium, I also lost quite a bit of reading comprehension.  In addition, I lost quite a bit of ability to remember things, and quite a bit of  ability to reason and “think things out”.  )

In essence, if anyone knew the truth of my circumstances in 1994, as well as knew the truth of my prior life experiences for the past three decades, I was not a person that was ever going to get better from manic depression. It was hopeless, or so even I had thought. Despite such hopelessness, I have always been a person that does not like being told that something is impossible. In July of 1994, I will always remember telling a very close bipolar friend of mine with tears in my eyes “if there is any way out of this trap [manic depression], I am going to do everything that I can to find it [for both of us] for the rest of my life”. This single statement has defined the last ten years of my life.

It is now June of 2004. For a little over four years, I have been able to completely control any manic depressive symptoms in myself, when I so choose to use my profound understanding of the true common causes this illness and/or when I have the means to afford optimal nutritional and other natural supplementation. And for a few years prior to June 2000, I was very close to knowing then what I know today.

I have not taken a single psychotropic medicine since September of 1997. Nor have I needed to take any medication since this time in order to control the symptoms of my illness. In November 1997, about five months after I had started to use psychotropic nutrients such as amino acids and use other natural measures as well, I had gained much greater control over my biochemistry and behavior than any drug that my psychiatrist had ever given me for manic depression.

What follows is the story of my recovery from an often devastating mental illness, an illness that most persons still erroneously consider incurable.

From the time I was first diagnosed with manic depression in June 1994 until I made a successful transition off of medication by using amino acids and other natural measures, I was prescribed and took the following medications for various periods of time; lithium, Depakote, Elavil, Zoloft, Serzone, Paxil, Ambien, Xanex, and Klonopin.

Neither mood stabilizer worked well for me. I took lithium in various dosages for about eight months. Lithium made me “a zombie” in 1200 mg. and 900 mg. dosages. I could not resolve hand trembling at these dosages as well. On lower dosages of 600 mg. and 300 mg. of lithium my mania recurrently, if not easily, broke through. Lithium did not seem to help my depressive states at all. My manic states rather easily blew through Depakote like it was water.

I slept sixteen hours a day on what I believe was only a 50 mg. dosage of Elavil. This medication clearly did not work out well for me. I was only prescribed Paxil and Serzone for a very short period of time (about a week) during one hospitalization that I had in July of 1996 for severe depression. Paxil and Serzone, in combination with Depakote, shut my small intestines down such that they nearly burst. I nearly died from this unusual drug combination of an SSRI antidepressant, a tricyclic antidepressant, and Depakote, all given at the same time (as it caused this intestinal shutdown, a medical condition with a name that is something like “paralytic illeus”).

Ambien helped me a little to sleep, but on even a “double dose” of this I could often only get three hours rest, which was not nearly enough sleep when I was manic… and I was manic quite a bit in the late 80′s though mid 1997. Often Sominex, an over the counter sleep remedy, would give me just as much sleep as Ambien, if not a bit more.

When I was first prescribed Xanex in December of 1995, this medication was a godsend for me. Finally I had found a chemical substance that would knock me out. Xanex was the first medication that I ever took that allowed me to get enough sleep such that my manic states did not “go over the top”. I was not taking a mood stabilizer at this time, so getting enough sleep was critical to me, and Xanex did the trick. However, within three months of my first taking Xanex, I had an adverse reaction to it (very blurred vision in one eye) on only .875 mg, a very low dose for most persons. As a result of this adverse reaction, I had to cease taking Xanex immediately. Perhaps needless to say, I had a fairly manic March of 1996 after I abruptly had to cease taking Xanex, as I could hardly sleep at all.

Of all the medications that I ever took for manic depression, two of them helped me substantially for fairly significant lengths of time. The first of these medications was Zoloft. When I first took Zoloft in the fall of 1992, this medication lifted me out of a three and a half month bout with severe depression in about two weeks. The whole world looked rosy to me when I first took Zoloft. I could not believe the change. As suicidal and as ignorant of depression as I was at the time, Zoloft may have actually saved my life. For this I am very thankful. However, towards the end of my time on medication, even twice as much Zoloft as I had always responded to did not seem to help me out of severe depression at all.

In September of 1996, I decided to begin to take a few vitamins and minerals in an attempt lift myself out of a current state of deep depression. This was the first depressive state I ever had that had not responded well to Zoloft. Within a few weeks of starting to take vitamins and minerals to help my mood state for the first time, I knew that these nutrient substances had made a huge difference. And finally, after months of feeling really blue, I was not depressed.

The second medication that I took for manic depression that helped me substantially was Klonopin. After I had an adverse reaction to Xanex in February of 1996 and had to stop taking it, I went though a fairly manic month or so. I was in real trouble at this point. I simply could not sleep well in March of 1996 without some sort of powerful chemical assistance. Whenever I could not sleep enough my manic state escalated rather quickly into severe mania. After reading a number of books and talking to a few other persons, I asked my psychiatrist for a trial of Klonopin, despite the fact that I had already had a negative reaction to another benzodiazapine medication. Reluctantly he agreed. I went on Klonopin in April of 1996. Klonopin was also a godsend for me. It bought me 18 months of being able to sleep at least enough so that I did not end up in the hospital for severe mania, and/or burn up any more serious money from being really manic. Even though I only got about four and a half to five hours or so of sleep on Klonopin, and in the end I had to have a few beers with 2 mg. of Klonopin in order to really go down at night, at least I could sleep long enough and deep enough so that in the morning when I woke up I was no longer really manic. I used to actually get up sluggish in the morning, what I called “a Klonopin hangover”, but by the end of that same day, I was often pretty zippity again… manic enough that I could not fall asleep and sleep well at all without either Klonopin or a combination of Klonopin and alcohol. I took Klonopin daily from April 1996 until September of 1997. I became clearly and knowingly addicted to Klonopin, not knowing a better answer to control my manic depressive tendencies at the time.

As result of my initial success with using some vitamins and minerals to help resolve depression in myself in September 1996, I began to experiment with other nutrients, despite the fact I was still on, and still really needed to take, Klonopin. In November of 1996, I began taking a potassium supplement. At this time, I was running on the high side (hypomanic), but I was not out of control. I was just running faster than the norm, but I was still lucid and quite functional. Either the very first day or the second day that I took potassium, I knew that just the simple mineral potassium made my manic state noticeably more elevated (worse). I immediately stopped taking potassium. My interest in nutrients grew immensely at this point. How could just a simple potassium supplement make my manic states worse? And if potassium made my manic states worse, I wondered would potassium help my depressive states? A few months later, in January of 1997, I found out. Potassium clearly made my depressed state in January of 1997 better, almost as much as Zoloft had done, but it did so much quicker. How could this be? I remember thinking at this time “how could such simple and elemental nutrients be ignored by the doctors that treat mental illness?” Perhaps needless to say, I soon began to experiment with nutrients even more.

In May of 1997, I began to take my first amino acid, the excitatory amino acid tyrosine. I took 500 mg. of tyrosine in the morning, with the odd collection of vitamins and minerals I had already determined as helpful to me over the past nine months or so. I was feeling pretty good at the time, not too manic, and not at all depressed. I did not notice the effect of tyrosine on me until the bottle ran out and I did not bother to replace it. Within a week of my not taking tyrosine, I realized that I had sunk day by day from a fairly stable and functional state to a state of serious, if not severe, depression. As I lay in my bed in early July of 1997, I wondered why? Why was I depressed? Life was clearly going very well for me at this point in my life. I had no triggers, no stressors, such that I should feel depressed unless my depressive onset was simply chemical in nature. I finally realized as I lay thinking in my bed that it was the fact that I had run out of tyrosine that I was depressed. I theorized that whatever tyrosine was making in my brain had become depleted. I also guessed, and guessed correctly, that whatever tyrosine was making in my brain was necessary for me to not feel depressed. (I later learned that tyrosine is the nutrient precursor to dopamine and norepinephrine, two key excitatory neurotransmitters. I also learned that tyrosine can either cause or contribute to a manic state, if a bipolar person takes too much tyrosine for their biochemistry at the moment. One needs to learn how to use inhibitory nutrients before taking tyrosine if they are bipolar… see below.)

As I did not have any tyrosine in the house, and it was Sunday night such that I could not just go to the health food store and just buy some more, I took some (nine grams in aggregate) of multi-amino acid tablets I had just recently ordered but had yet to take for the first time. Then I took my Klonopin, had a beer or two, and went to bed. Eight hours later, I woke up manic as hell. I could not believe what had happened to me. I had gone from a state of very serious depression to very severe mania within eight hours, simply as the result of amino acid ingestion. This was absolutely amazing to me. I repeated the same mistake a week later, with virtually the same result.

At this point in my life (July of 1997), I immediately knew the enormous social and scientific significance of what had just happened to me. I also immediately signed up to be “a guinea pig” for the rest of world in regard to what nutrients can do to correct manic depression. I was going to research and take every nutrient that I possibly could in an attempt to discover what it might teach me about correcting my condition of chemical imbalance. Soon after this, when I knew just a little bit more, I also decided to research every common impairment to essential nutrient delivery in the human species, as it was clear to me from the standpoints of both simple logic and my own self experience that these common nutrient impairment issues were often the true common causes of manic depression. In my opinion, this simple logic has been anecdotally proven to be correct, not only for myself, but also for a number of other persons that are bipolar as well.

My first discovery about how to use nutrients was that I discovered that it is “a must” from the standpoint of safety that a bipolar person learns how to use inhibitory nutrients before they start using excitatory ones, such as tyrosine or phenylalanine. Excitatory nutrients can easily cause bipolar persons to become hypomanic, manic, or severely manic within hours of their ingestion. If you are bipolar you definitely don’t want this to happen without having an answer in place beforehand. Inhibitory nutrients, such as inhibitory amino acids, can both counteract and balance excitatory ones. Inhibitory nutrients, when used properly, can resolve a manic state. Inhibitory nutrients, in combination with other natural measures, seem to take mania completely out of the equation if these nutrients are used properly on a daily basis.

In August of 1997, I began to use inhibitory nutrients, completely ceasing my use of excitatory nutrients temporarily due to my recognition of their dangers without having an antidote (knowledge of how to use inhibitory nutrients).

Within a month, by taking a combination of inhibitory nutrients I was able to get off of 18 months of daily Klonopin usage completely without any difficult withdrawal symptoms whatsoever. The three generally amino acids of taurine, GABA, and tryptophan were the heart of my inhibitory cocktail at this time. These three amino acids, along with a few vitamin and mineral cofactors, were giving me the best sleep of my entire adult life within a month of my first taking them.

Incidentally, the three amino acids of taurine, GABA, and tryptophan happen to be the very same amino acids that were helpful to Margot Kidder in regard to sleep and inhibition. In case you are not aware of this, Margot Kidder is an actress that overcame her own diagnosis of bipolar disorder via solely natural means. Taurine, GABA, and tryptophan also happen to be the same three amino acids that Julia Ross speaks about using successfully for inhibition in her book “The Mood Cure”. To the best of my knowledge, Margot Kidder, Julia Ross, and I all reached similar conclusions on these three amino acids independently of each other. Although it is true that any one person can respond positively or negatively to any individual amino acid, and therefore this inhibitory amino acid regime is clearly not for everyone, it appears rather remarkable to me that three persons independently of each other all found these same three amino acids as being useful to either themselves or their clients.

September of 1997 marked the last time that I have ever needed or wanted to take any medication whatsoever to control mania or depression in myself. Nutrients and other natural measures not only “did the job much better” than any medication that I ever took for my illness, nutrients and other natural measures also did the job much faster as well. Amino acids often work within a single hour, sometimes they need a single day, and rarely do amino acids need more than a handful of days to effect profoundly positive mood change. This should perhaps not be surprising, as roughly 99 out of the 100 or so known neurotransmitters are primarily amino acid based, as well as amino acids represent nearly 75% of the functional chemistry in the body, once the water is taken out.

By January of 1998, I realized that manic depression was often simply the result of a sub-clinical malabsorption syndrome, of which allergic and toxic issues were nearly always involved as well. At this time I also realized that (1) multiple hidden food allergies, (2) intestinal dysbiosis issues (dysbiosis essentially means candida and other yeasts, various problematic bacteria, and/or parasites), (3) a possible lack of digestive enzymes, (4) a possible lack of HCL (stomach acid), (4) excessive cooked food intake, (5) a lack of nutrients in our depleted soils, and (6) stress (which is always biochemically depleting, no matter what the source) were all issues that were either causative or contributory factors in my illness.

Of the aforementioned six factors, I sensed that multiple hidden food allergies and intestinal dysbiosis were often the primary issues to address in almost any person that is bipolar. It appears that these two factors are often the root cause of bipolar disorder in many of those thus afflicted.

Incidentally, other persons besides myself, many of them doctors or professional health care providers, believe that hidden food allergy and intestinal dysbiosis issues are often major, if not primary, causative factors underlying both ADHD and alcoholism as well. In addition to this, hidden food allergy and/or intestinal dysbiosis issues are strongly implicated by alternative medicine as a whole as being either causative or contributory to the symptoms of various other mental and physical maladies such as autism, schizophrenia, anxiety, fibromyalgia, migraines, and arthritis.

Over the past six years or so I have added a few more common malabsorptive factors to the conceptual overview reflected above. One of these malabsorptive factors is the possibility of inadequate hydration. Adequate water intake apparently helps with nutrient absorption in the small intestines. A second possible malabsorptive factor that I have added over time is inadequate physical movement in regard to the abdominal area. We humans were apparently designed to walk far more that our modern lifestyle dictates we do. This physical movement helps the intestinal area to work as well as it should, and it apparently helps nutrient absorption.

Despite my later realizations, for the most part the general conceptual overview that I developed in late 1997 is pretty much the same one that I am still using to remain well today. The general principle underlying this conceptual overview is “any factor that impairs adequate nutrient absorption into the body is a factor that can either directly cause or greatly contribute to the symptoms of manic depression”. And the general principal that “cures” bipolar disorder is “any and all common factors which impair nutrient delivery into the body are both fairly readily identifiable and adequately correctable in any person that may have them”.

Worthy of note here is that there appears to be a number of alternative practitioners that are either unaware themselves or that wish to take advantage of some of their patients that may be unaware for the purpose of fiscal gain. You do not need any doctor whatsoever to determine your hidden food allergies. No laboratory test whatsoever is accurate enough to determine someone’s food allergies or food intolerances. You only need to go on an elimination diet that is performed by you at home. Yet, perhaps tens of thousands of hidden food allergy tests of various sorts are still being recommended and prescribed to patients yearly by many practitioners of alternative medicine. You also do not need any laboratory tests whatsoever to determine candida or other intestinal dysbiosis issues in yourself as well. Simply dosing up slowly until you reach a therapeutic dosage level (that shows solid results both in the toilet and in your general bowel habits) with a probiotic such as powdered Primal Defense is all that is necessary to determine if candida and “bad bacteria” in the GI tract were a major problem for you prior to taking Primal Defense. And parasite testing is both known to be quite inaccurate and non-inclusive (it can miss a lot). An herbal parasitic regime administered by yourself at home such as that recommended by Dr. Hulda Clark or the website http://www.curezone.com is far better than using any laboratory testing and/or medication whatsoever to resolve the issues of parasites if this issue applies to you. In addition, you don’t need either a doctor or any testing whatsoever to resolve the possible lack of digestive enzymes in yourself. Trial use of a powerful enzyme preparation such as DigestEnz, slowly dosing up while monitoring the effect in yourself is good simple advice that anyone can follow at home to determine if they may lack an adequate production of digestive enzymes in order to digest meals well. This can without the services or advice of any doctor whatsoever. And the trial use of HCL an hour or so after taking digestive enzymes when you eat a meal (if you are using such), dosing up slowly while monitoring the effect in yourself is good simple advice that anyone can follow at home to determine possible stomach acid deficiency in his or her self. This can also be done without the services or advice of any doctor whatsoever. Although the information contained in this paragraph is not nearly thorough enough to fully resolve these common malabsorptive issues of hidden food allergy, intestinal dysbiosis, a possible lack of digestive enzymes, and a possible lack of HCL, I think that you, the reader, may have a solid sense of where I am going here. “YOU CAN, IF NOT MUST, CURE YOURSELF” of manic depression for the most part. And you can do so without getting a lot of expensive and/or marginally useful (if not useless) laboratory tests to do so.

Going back to my story….

During 1998 and 1999, it became clear to me that the broad biochemical deficiency that manic depression not only effects the brain, it also effects the liver, the pancreas, the thyroid gland, the adrenal glands, etc. Every organ and cell in the body is essentially starving for functional nutrition in order for it to perform properly when one is bipolar.

And during 1998 and 1999, I also realized that most of the efforts to correct manic depression via natural means should be targeted towards correcting GI tract dysfunction, and not just targeted toward correcting the function of the brain itself. The brain is simply “a trailing secondary organ to primary gut events”. Gut status and brain status are far more closely connected than most persons realize.

Since September of 1997, when I first read the classic alternative medicine books Depression – Cured At Last by Dr. Sherry Rogers and The Way Up From Down by Dr. Priscilla Slagle (two books that greatly taught me the concepts in the conceptual model discussed above), I have picked through and picked through this newer alternative medicine reality, refining, validating, and/or improving on its great new truths.

I should perhaps mention here that I am of the opinion that newer alternative medical reality as generally represented by Dr. Sherry Rogers, Dr. Priscilla Slagle, Joan Matthews Larson, Patrick Holford, Dr. Charles Gant, Jerry Rubin, Elizabeth Lipski, Julia Ross and a number of other doctors and practitioners today is probably going to replace many of the older concepts and treatments of alternative medicine. Doctors such as Dr. Abram Hoffer (a man that is admittedly a true hero in my eyes nonetheless) and Dr. William Walsh are still espousing some older orthomolecular concepts and alternative treatments as “the highest degree of alternative medical truth”. Perhaps they are right. Only time will tell here. However, my life experience (an experience which has included taking well over 120,000 capsules of various supplements since mid-1997), my hundreds of informal self trials of intentionally inducing and then correcting bipolar symptoms (especially depression), and the great deal of research I have done since mid 1997 has led me to disagree with these doctors for the most part. I disagree with them in regard to their (1) general conceptual misunderstanding of my illness, (2) their incorrect focus in treating bipolar disorder as a result of point (1), and in regard to many of the treatments that they either recommend or miss recommending (when I feel such treatments are often necessary).

In stating the above, I do not mean to demean the individual, if not heroic, efforts of Dr. Hoffer, Dr. Walsh and other doctors of the same genre in any way whatsoever. However, it strongly appears to me that a newer conceptual model of mental illness and its proper treatment is replacing an older one inside the arena of alternative medicine. I am a person that concurs with this newer conceptual alternative understanding. This newer understanding seems to have begun to blossom over the last six years or so, an event to which we all perhaps owe special thanks to Dr. Sherry Rogers for her absolutely brilliant thought and her rather prolific writing. Dr. Rogers was by far my greatest teacher, despite her not knowing how to use amino acids therapeutically at all. (Knowledge of amino acid use was knowledge that I found was key for me in order to properly resolve my illness, and for this knowledge I had to go elsewhere.)

By early 2000, after many years of great effort, a hundred or so books, hundreds of conversations with other persons, many thousands of miles driven, and many tens of thousands of dollars spent, for all ostensible purposes I realized how I could always correct mania and depression in myself by solely using natural means. At this point in time, I could avoid any and all symptoms of my illness whenever I desired to. I could hit a “biochemical 10″ day after day and month after month at will if I so chose to do so. For me a “biochemical 10″ means that I exhibit an aura of deep mental and physical wellness that is rather obvious to anyone that sees me. When I am a “biochemical 10″ I live in the present. I feel great each and every moment that I am awake; and I am not manic at all, nor am I depressed at all as well. Very few “normal persons” without any psychiatric diagnosis whatsoever appear to feel nearly as well as I do or are as mood stable as I am when I am a “biochemical 10″ as I define this to be in myself.

Once I knew that I could hit a “biochemical 10″ at will whenever I wished to do so, I did something rather unusual, but with a number of reasons behind it. I often settled for a degree of wellness that was far less than a 10, a situation that is still true today. One reason for this is that for me to be a “biochemical 10″ cost quite a bit of money supplement-wise (between $400 to $500 a month), a cost that I could not always afford. A second reason for this is that to be a 10 I had to always avoid quite a few foods that were constantly being put in front of me by either family or friends. Rather than always refuse them, I’d simply eat a food that I knew that I would react to negatively to some extent, and then I would test treatment methodology (clear this food out the next day or the day after by using high dosage bentonite and psyllium). And the third reason, and by far the most important one, is that if I stayed a 10 month after month, my ability to continue to learn by trial and error and my ability to test or refine better treatments for my illness was completely lost. I was, and still am, willing to sacrifice my optimal own wellness for the sake of learning and for the sake of others. Few persons understand or accept this, but that is their problem, not mine.

Since the fall of 1997, I have not been trying all of the supplements and natural measures that I have simply to achieve my own wellness. I have been attempting to learn all that I can about my illness in order to make a greater contribution to the general understanding of it. I have been willingly and intentionally sacrificing my own optimal health and wellness in order to help other persons that still suffer. For the past seven years I have often been intentionally sloppy with my natural wellness regime. I have intentionally ingested my known food allergens at least a few hundred times, if not more. I have often intentionally caused or aggravated intestinal dysbiosis issues in myself as well (by a high sugar diet). In doing so, I have intentionally caused manic depressive symptoms in myself, often to the point of severity. My goals in doing this were to test, validate, and/or refine my preexisting knowledge. As a concrete example here, I have intentionally induced and then corrected depression at will in myself within a day or two over a hundred times since August of 1999, the point in which I first realized that I could do so. I did not mind doing this at all, as it is my sincere belief that I was and still am developing a “world changing degree of knowledge”.

Since early 2000, I can quite literally create and then correct a rather incredible range of depressive symptoms in myself by using only natural means from within a matter of a handful of hours to a matter of three or four days. I can also create and then correct a significant degree of manic symptoms in myself by using only natural means within a matter of hours to a matter of days at will as well. Admittedly, despite the fact that I have been severely manic a few hundred times in my life between 1963 and 1996, it is extremely hard for me to become much more than seriously hypomanic at this point in time, and to do so can take me well over a month. I have simply corrected my biochemistry chemistry too much these past seven years or so to get severely manic any more without a great deal of time and effort. Although I can get hypomanic readily at will by taking a high dose of excitatory amino acids along with some vitamin and mineral cofactors, this state does not last longer than a matter of hours, and it appears to always be completely self corrective without any further intervention whatsoever. This is quite a contrast to my manic states years ago, in which my seriously hypomanic states had a strong tendency to continue to escalate to the point of severe mania. Conversely, I can simply eat right (which means avoiding my food allergens and eating a diet that is good for me), take care of my gut properly such that it is always absorptive and has a low level of toxins, and supplement my biochemistry as necessary. In doing so, I suffer no symptoms of manic depression whatsoever.

I have found few persons understand or accept what I am attempting to do in the above. I have also found that many persons are either awful quick to criticize me or they try to discredit me with others for not being completely well at all times. They either do not realize or do not accept that all of what I have been doing for a number of years and am still doing today in regard to my being well or my becoming sick is often intentional for the purpose of learning more about my illness. And if my being sick is not intentional, it is just that I have become too fiscally impoverished to be able to remain optimal at all times. I simply conserve my supply of costly supplements to be optimally well when the need arises. However, given adequate fiscal means to do so, and a valid reason (or reasons) to be optimally well, I can be such at all times. This has been the case since April 2000, if not a few months sooner.

If the truth was actually known, by any valid measurement whatsoever, I have quite literally “cured myself of over three decades of severe symptoms of manic depression”. I do not know it all about manic depression. Some persons are very likely to be more right that I am on some of the details concerning this illness. However, as a result of both my recovery and my research, it seems entirely possible to me that I have may have developed a “Nobel Prize winning level of understanding” of my illness. No, I do not expect to win this prize, and yes, such a thought does smack of manic delusion. I simply state such to give the reader a sense of where I honestly think I am here. Regardless of whether I am intentionally mildly depressed, severely depressed, of normal mood, hypomanic, or I happen to be a “biochemical 10″ at the moment, I have waken up each and every single day for more than four years knowing that the fact that I may have developed a “Nobel Prize winning level of understanding” of manic depression is very probably the truth. I do realize that no one as yet believes in either my representations or me personally. However, I also realize that it is extremely likely that no one on earth as yet has a clue as to how to methodically and adequately resolve a state of severe depression in his or her self in a period of time that averages as little as eight to twelve hours, assuming that they have an empty stomach prior to initiating treatment.

I have realized for quite some time that for many millions of other bipolar persons it is inevitable that medication use to control manic depression is going to be found pointless, if not seriously counterproductive to their true recovery. No medication ever invented can correct a substantial degree of essential nutrient deficiency. And fairly broad essential nutrient deficiency is clearly a very major part of what manic depression is truly all about. Medication, despite its ability to often successfully mask the symptoms of manic depression, is also successfully masking the real truth about the true causes and corrections of this state of biochemical imbalance, a state of imbalance that involves far more nutrient deficiency than nutrient excess.

Despite my saying the above, I am not entirely anti-medication. I am anti-symptom. Medication use is often a very valid steppingstone to true wellness. Medication use is still very justified until the new reality of how to cure manic depression via natural means is better worked out such that it can be widely and safely applied to other persons. Unfortunately, this latter event may take quite some time. This is because current medical research and medical practice is totally deaf to those of all of us that have either cured ourselves of this devastating illness or have made very substantial progress in this direction, and it has been deaf to us for years. It is perhaps far too much of an embarrassment to the current medical model that a number of fairly simple and fairly basic biological facts, when they are coupled together successfully as I have done, will often totally cure decades of severe symptoms of manic depression. Or perhaps this medical model and the pharmaceutical model underlying it is making way too much money, an income that they don’t want to lose if we all become well. Or perhaps persons will ask, “If manic depression is fully correctable with nutrients and other natural measures, what other illnesses can be corrected via similar natural means as well?”

If the real truth becomes known, perhaps almost every illness, both mental and physical, is going to be found to benefit far more from over the counter nutrients purchased in a health food store (or over the internet) than any medication that was ever invented. This latter truth has to scare modern medicine to death, as many doctors may lose their million dollar houses, their $50,000 cars, and anything else that may need their high incomes from dispensing medications, many of which are ultimately going to be found to be obsolete. This finding that the majority of medications are rather pale compared to the power of essential nutrients (applied properly) may take ten years to happen, it may take twenty years to happen, but it IS going to happen. The truth of the power of nutrients vs. the weakness of medication is a truth that is just far too powerful, and just way too obvious, to ignore much longer.

I know the real truth as represented in the above in a very real and deeply heartfelt way.

I know the real truth of the power of nutrients vs. the weakness of medicines partially as the result of my personally taking well over 120,000 capsules or tablets of various vitamins, minerals, amino acids, essential fatty acids, probiotics, digestive enzymes, accessory nutrients, and other natural supplements since mid 1997. At least 80,000 of these were capsules of individual or blended amino acids… which happen to be “great teachers” of how both human biochemistry and the GI tract work from a practical standpoint. Such massive supplementation is not necessary to correct manic depression. However, this massive supplementation was necessary for me in order to perform many hundreds of informal self trials over the past six years as “a guinea pig for the rest of the world” in order to discover much of significance about my illness.

I also know the real truth partially as the result of my learning how to take mania right out of the equation in 1997/8 by the use of inhibitory nutrients on a daily basis. Part of the nutrients that I take to resolve mania also greatly helps me to resolve sleep onset, sleep quality, and sleep duration issues in myself as well. Very similar inhibitory nutrients to that which I am using have perhaps helped many hundreds, if not thousands, of persons to slow down, to resolve hypomania and mania, to resolve anxiety, etc. I highly suggest the book “The Mood Cure” by Julia Ross here. Although I disagree with Ms. Ross on her suggestions regarding excitatory amino acids, as I feel they are outdated, and I also feel Ms. Ross also misses a possibly key inhibitory nutrient combination of carnitine and phosphatidyl choline, my experience with using combinations of inhibitory amino acids almost mirrors Ms. Ross’s suggestions exactly. It appears that Julia Ross, Margot Kidder, the actress that overcame bipolar disorder in herself via natural means, and myself independently reached extremely similar conclusions on how to use inhibitory amino acids in the late 1990′s or so.

I know the real truth about the power of nutrients vs. medication partly as a result of discovering a nutrient combination in the fall of 1997 that acted just like lithium in me. This nutrient combination both slowed and steadied my rate of neuronal firing, just like lithium does, but without my having any adverse side effects whatsoever. This nutrient combination is l-carnitine in the morning and phosphatidyl choline afterwards. In my opinion, the nutrient combination of carnitine/choline simply begs to be researched in regard to its effect on manic depression. Perhaps inositol or other nutrients may either help or be necessary cofactors here as well, but no doubt about it, in combination with what else I was taking l-carnitine and phosphatidyl choline (in an adequate dosage, I use 500 mg. of carnitine and 3 to 5 capsules of phosphatidyl choline from Solgar) profoundly slowed down my “spontaneous rate of neuronal firing”, just like lithium does. It also lowered my speech volume and slowed my rate of speech remarkably. Unfortunately, since late 1997 my cries on this issue of research into carnitine/choline (along with a multivitamin multimineral preparation and some Omega 3 oil perhaps to cover any other unknown nutrient cofactors) and its effect on those bipolar persons that are primarily hypomanic or manic much of the time have failed. No one yet has looked at this possible breakthrough discovery that I made in the fall of 1997 in regard to what nutrients are often necessary in order to “slow the brain down”. The norm here, a norm that is unfortunately still true today, is that I am either labeled “manic delusional” for my claiming to have made any very significant discovery about manic depression (and I have made quite a few), or that I am just ignored.

I know the real truth partly as a result of my feeling at least 15 years younger physically than I did six years ago. My skin color is much better, my weight is 30 lbs. less, my muscles are and my skeletal frame are much stronger, and I have far more vitality than most persons who smoke cigarettes as much and as long as I have. My cigarette addiction I admittedly have yet to resolve. For me anyway, curing myself of manic depression is far easier that beating a heavy addiction to nicotine.

I know the real truth as the result of curing myself of both TMJ in my jawbone and also completely resolving a very arthritic and problematic back that bothered me greatly on a regular basis for almost 20 years. My back never bothers me at all now, a fact that never ceases to amaze me, as I had such serious back trouble for so long.

I know the real truth over the power of nutrients vs. medications partly as the result of my recommending a very similar nutrient regime to that which I use to control manic depression to help a person to resolve five years of fairly heavy heroin use, during which he nearly died three times (from overdose). What I gave this person nutrient-wise profoundly helped him from almost day one. Within a month he was a new man, with an aura of wellness and contentment that he hadn’t had in years. This event happened nearly two years ago.

And most amazingly, I know the real truth as the result of discovering in late 1999 of how to intentionally induce a state of very severe depression with suicidal ideation attached in myself at will within three to four days or so by eating common foods that I am allergic to, and then learning how to adequately correct this suicidally depressed state within a matter of hours to at most a single day in myself. For other persons this nutritive and natural therapy may take a few days to a week. However, I can’t imagine the fairly comprehensive and all natural anti-depressive therapy that I am using taking much more than a week to have an amazingly positive effect on both mood and general well being in all but a small minority of persons (the few that are truly very ill).

Every day for over three years, if not closer to six, I wake up to the reality that it is entirely possible that, as a result of relying on a great deal of foundation work of many other persons, I may have developed some of the most accurate conceptual and practical insight into how to correct depression and manic depression to date. I say this despite the facts that (1) I am not a doctor, (2) I have almost no formal education beyond high school (despite being gifted), and (3) I still smoke cigarettes rather heavily. I do not claim perfection to anyone, but I sincerely apologize to all for not resolving my cigarette addiction, as this seriously damages my credibility on any health matters whatsoever.

Unfortunately, I also wake up to the reality that after spending perhaps as much as $200,000, if not more, in a search for answers concerning manic depression since July of 1994, my access to any sizable funds ran out in August of 2002. I now have to live on less than $800 a month net. Yet I morally cannot, and will not, take “a regular job” for greater fiscal gain. Nothing in this world means more to me but to do my best to do all that I can to attempt to end the enormous suffering that manic depression and depression causes. A regular job for fiscal gain would just interfere with this goal, as it would take up too much of my time and energy, time and energy that I have been freely giving for years to help all humankind.

Despite the above, I am not here with my hand out to ask for or to take anything at all. Money means almost nothing to me. I was a self-made millionaire once in my life, and I was so depressed I almost blew my brains out. Now I am healthy both mentally and physically. Other than retaining my own health and well being, only one other single thing really matters to me. This “other thing” is my seeing that answers that I may have discovered as a result of extraordinary effort since my diagnosis of bipolar disorder in June 1994 move forward as they should… such that many other persons are ultimately cured of manic depression without having to take nearly as long and hard a road as I had to travel in which to do so.

I sure could use some solid help from other intelligent persons with in regard to the answers that I have discovered in regarding to correcting depression within a matter of days, if not a matter of hours, in most persons so afflicted. I have been asking for this help for years, both inside the medical model and within the confines of alternative medicine. Thus far, my pleas for help with discoveries that I know to be significant have been to no avail. I have been repeatedly ignored by both conventional and alternative medicine. The claims that I have been making since early 2000 in regard to the correction of severe depression in such a short time are perhaps just too extraordinary to be believed by anyone, yet I know in my heart that in essence these claims are absolutely true. Certainly, I might not be right about everything, and much of what I know could be easily improved on or refined. However, just as it stands the multi-stage natural anti-depressive therapy that I first discovered beginning in August of 1999 and had verified within months of its discovery is a very logical therapy. It is also a therapy that is based on much solid biological and scientific fact as well. In my opinion, this natural anti-depressive therapy has also been anecdotally validated well enough at this point be worth a solid look at by at least some person or organizational body. It would certainly help if this person or organizational body had the ability to effect real change, as I am powerless by myself in this regard.

We humans appear to be very odd creatures. I just don’t understand why I have been blessed with such extraordinary knowledge of how to correct depression and manic depression via natural means… and then I reach out to others for help to take a look at what I have discovered… and the end result is that I often just get either personally attacked or ignored… despite the fact that my heart is in the right place and I only want to help… and I have no agenda of enrichment or self aggrandizement whatsoever. I don’t mind a whit if my discoveries are plagiarized by others and/or I don’t receive either a dime or any credit whatsoever for them… as long these discoveries are validated and refined by a party capable of doing so… and then used to reduce much human suffering, as I am aware that they can.

Lastly, I pray that some day in the future the current medical model will not continue to ignore the overwhelming anecdotal evidence that has been generated for many years that the two biochemical issues of hidden food allergy and intestinal dysbiosis (which conventional doctors often actually cause by the prescription of antibiotics) are often primary causative factors in depression, manic depression, ADHD, schizophrenia, alcoholism (and perhaps other substance abuse as well), fibromyalgia, arthritis, migraines, and a whole host of other physical and mental illnesses. I also pray that some day lessons such as those that I have learned in my recovery from over three decades of bipolar symptoms are not only actually heard, but that they are acted upon appropriately by someone, as well as acted upon appropriately by modern medical science.
